[N] Hello there, or should I say aloha.
Welcome to the world of Hawaiian guitar.
Just to give
you the idea about how palm harmonics are generated, let's just do a normal [G] harmonic.
Since you're holding a bar, you'll have to use your pinky here.
Now, you'll probably
notice that you can do this on both sides of the string.
So, in order to save hand work
here, we do it all with one hand by making the harmonic here with your palm.
That's why
they're called palm harmonics.
It has nothing to do with palm trees.
And strumming through.
[B] That [A] next phrase
[D] [F#]
[D] [Bm] is
[D] [G]
Ripped stroke.
That's the first part.
The augmented chord for this A would
actually [D#] [F#] be
[N] But since your bar is straight, you can't do it.
You have to fake it.
So, the way that
Saul faked it was by compromising and fudging with vibrato.
So, he's actually playing the
first string just a little bit flat.
The second string is just a little bit sharp, and the
third string is right on key.
And thanks for listening.
And aloha.
We're going to go out
with a little traditional Hawaiian tune from the 1880s, a beautiful tango called Uelike
Noelike in the key of F.
