Hey, what's up you guys?
Marty Schwartz here, GuitarJams.com.
Got a really awesome classic progression for you, but no bar chords, so it's great.
And I just always like this progression, so we're going to get into it.
I also have a free e-book, other cool bonus stuff.
Always leave a link below this little video box here.
You can click it right down there.
But in the meantime, I'm just going to give you a nice free lesson right now.
Here we go.
Alright, we're going to start with an A minor [Am] chord.
And also the original, it's like tuned almost a half step down.
I think mainly because it was a 12 string, so there was tension on the guitar, because
it's not perfectly in any tuning.
But we're going to just go standard tuning here.
We take an A minor chord.
And we're going to
Sounds like [B] Tenacious D was influenced by this a bit.
So, the pinky comes down on the [Am] third and back up of that B string.
Then we're going to take our index off.
[G]
Right to a G chord.
Now I'm going to play the G chord with the pinky and the ring finger.
Middle finger, first finger.
[D]
And that ring finger is in the same spot [G]
for the G [Am] chord and the D chord.
So it's a nice little transition there.
[G]
[D] Right to that D.
[Am] Same thing again.
[G] [D] D.
[G] [C] So the second time it goes to a C.
Then we're going to go like this.
Drag the pick across from that A string.
And ring finger comes off, middle finger comes up [G] to the second fret.
[Cm]
[E] Then it goes back to A minor, and you're still strumming from that [Am] A string.
[C] Watch.
[G] [Am]
And then a strum.
[C] [G] [Am]
[G] So, from [Am] the top.
[G] G,
[D] D, [G]
[Am] A minor, [G] G,
[D] D, [C] then C.
Strum.
[G] [Am]
[G] [D]
So [E] watch.
[C]
[G] [Am]
[G] So [Am] you got
After [C] you [Am] do
You're still on A [C] minor.
[Am] A minor.
A minor.
[G] G, [D]
D, [C]
[Am]
[G] [D] G, D.
The classic pinky add on that third fret.
It's a Dsus4.
[B] So from the top, one [Am] more time.
[G]
[D]
[G] [Am] [G]
[D] [C]
[G] [Am]
A [G] minor, G, [D] D, and a pinky.
[C] [D]
[C] So then we're going to go
On the C.
To [D] a D.
[C] Into [D] the chorus.
[C] Da [D] da da [G] G, G, [D] G, [C] D, C, C, [D] C, [G] G, G, G, [D] [C] D, C, C, [D] C, [G] D, G, G, D, [D] [C] C, C, [D] [G] D, G, G, [D] D, D, D, D, D, D.
from [Am] the top [G] [D]
[Am]
[A] [G] [D]
[C] walk down
[G] [Am] a minor a [G] minor G [D] D [C] C [D] D [G]
G [D] [G] [C]
[D] [G]
down down [D] down down down [G] up so
[D] [G]
[D] [C]
[D]
[G] [D]
[C]
[D] [G]
[D] [C]
[D] [G]
[D] [C] [G] [D]
[G] G D G D G D G [D] D D
Alright, [Am]
[G] [D]
[Am]
[G] [D]
[C] [G]
[Am] [G]
[D] [C]
[D] [G]
[D] [C]
[D] [G] [A]
[C] [D]
[G] [D] [C]
[D] [G]
[D]
[Bb] I won't have time to work on all the licks of the solo for this lesson, but
I will show you the chord progression.
It's very similar to Stairway to Heaven guitar
solo you know like the I think the tempo is about the same starts in a minor so
we go like [A] this we got a minor [Am] one two three four one and these are also the
chord that little chord section in the beginning it's just these two chords
really quick a minor at our pinky [Em] you can even do your ring finger [Am] like that
you have a minor ring finger over to that third of the G I use my pinky a lot
[C] either one [Am] you got a minor two three four [C] that G note three [G] four [D] D two three
four and then [F] F two and you play F that way if you want F two three [E] four E
[F] F F
[E]
[F] E F F then it starts then it goes back to [A] C so you [Am] got a minor over G
[D] E
[F] F
[E] E [F] F [E] F
[F] E [Am] F then you got [C] C [G] to G to [D] D back [C]
[D] into the chorus [G] so one more time [Am] on that
section [C] right [D]
[F] all
[E] [F]
[E] [F]
[C] [G]
[D]
[C] [D] [G]
[D] [C]
