Thank you, thanks very much.
Good evening everybody.
How are we doing tonight?
Come on, how are we doing tonight?
I [G] am so excited to be with you here in Marshall, Texas.
What a great night.
I'd [F] be excited to come to you [Gb] any time, any day, but especially on this day as [D] we celebrate the change from Marshall Civic [Eb] Center to the Marshall Convention Center.
[Ab] It's an honor for me to get to be the first one to perform with you [Bb] tonight, just as my granddad was the first to perform with you in [Db] the Marshall Civic Center in 1934.
What [N] an honor.
We're going to have a fun night tonight.
Are we ready for that?
Well good, good, good.
Now Floyd Kramer was one of the most beloved and influential musicians of all time.
I'm Jason Coleman and I'm proud to call Floyd Kramer my granddad.
This concert tonight honors his legacy [Eb] at the piano.
We're going to revisit some great songs, some great memories and great stories, all in [N] tribute to his life and his legacy.
Now, granddad had a career that spanned over 40 years until he passed away in 1997.
He was known both as a great solo artist, you know, a [E] recording artist of his own and performed concerts,
[Gb]
[N] but he also was known for what he contributed to the recordings of a lot of other great artists in country and rock and pop music.
He's been inducted into both the country music and the rock and roll halls of fame for his contributions to the music industry,
and it's all [B] because of [Db] this unique style he had at the piano.
It's this style that [C] set him apart from other piano players and made him [Eb] so beloved throughout his whole career.
[G] He called this style the slip note style of [Ab] playing, and the first song [Eb] to feature this style actually [Gb] was made famous by Hank Lachlan.
It's a song [Eb] called Please Help Me, I'm Falling.
