Hello, as promised [E] I'm going to start doing these lessons with the aid of notation now.
So what you see before you is a short alap in Ragiyaman using six phrases.
So I'll play the short alap as I normally would and then we'll go over each phrase individually.
[E]
[Em]
[Bb]
[E] [Em]
[Bb] [E] [E]
So, phrase one.
So these markings is approximately, you can hold the note for approximately second per marking.
So for example this knee would be approximately only for four seconds.
But it's not exactly fixed, what you need to get is the shape and the syntax of the alap.
So I'm going to play each phrase individually now, slower.
So, phrase one.
[Gbm] [E]
Phrase two.
Three.
[B]
[E]
Four.
Five.
[Bb]
[E]
[Em] [E]
Six.
[B] [E]
You see except for these holding markings I didn't put any timing structure.
So, I mean you could be flexible.
So, for example, phrase one, I play it like.
You could play it.
So, knee, so the Ga on top is just basically this is a touch.
So, go over these six phrases and then in the second lesson I'm going to follow up
and I'll go over all these phrases again.
Thank you.
