[C] [Em] [F]
[C] [Em] So the song Belovedness is a song that's very near and dear to my [G] heart,
[C] because I feel like over the past several [F] years,
I've kind of been on this intentional journey of [Am] discovering my identity
as a [F] beloved daughter [G] of God.
[C] And it's something that I've struggled [D] with forever,
like [C] self-negativity and self [F]-confidence issues.
I've struggled with it since I was a kid.
[C] But I read this book about five years ago now
called Life of [Am] the Beloved by Henry Nowen [Bm] that changed my life [C] forever,
which sounds dramatic, but it's true.
And [Gm] the whole premise [F] of the book is this idea that [Dm] there's these [Am] voices
[F] that bombard [G] us every day, [Am] whether it's the [G] voice of negativity,
of [Dm] lies that we believe, [C] fears, society [B] just like swirling in our heads,
this negative [C] self-talk tape loop that just goes on without [D] [C] us stopping it.
And so [F] the whole idea of this book is what would it look like
if we [Em] could stop [G] and still those [C] voices and listen to that still, small,
[F] strong voice that at the center of our being calls us beloved?
What would it look like if we [C] could live out of that truth?
[G]
I [C] think it's so easy for [Em] us, myself included,
[F] to so [Dm] quickly own the negative things about [G] ourselves,
to [Dm] look at ourselves in the mirror and see [G] all the [C] ways that we're not enough
in comparison [F] with the world, especially in this day and age of [Am] social media
and the comparison [F] game.
[G]
[C] What would it look like [Dm] if everyone [G] understood their identity
[F] as a beloved daughter or son of God?
I think it would change the world.

[G] [C]
[F] [Dm] I feel like things [G] like self [D]-help books, things like that,
[C] sometimes are fleeting, sometimes it's almost like [F] you can't [Bm] quite [C] hold on to it.
[G] And the whole idea of [C] belovedness or just [Dm] identity as being a beloved child of [Am] God
is [B] that [C] at the very core [F] of who you are, [Em] when you were created,
[F] from the moment you were created, [Am] you were [Dm] known, seen and loved.
You were created [Am] by God on purpose.
You have a purpose on [G] this planet [A] that cannot [G] be taken away from you.
No matter what you've done, no matter [F] what has been said to you,
no [C] matter what's been done to you, there is nothing that can take away that identity.
No [Am] matter what you feel, if you feel like it that day [F] or not,
I think that's [C] what makes it [G] different, is that it is [C] innately a part of you.
There's nothing that can take it away.
There's nothing that will ever separate you from it.
[F]
[Em] I'm glad I made you.
[C] I find you beautiful in every [F] way.
My love for [Am] you is fierce [G] and unending.
I'll [C] come to find you, whatever [F] it takes.
My [C] beloved, [F] it's time to own [G] your belovedness.
