[N] Hey, what's up you guys?
Marty Schwartz here, GuitarJams.com.
That's the website where my lessons are.
Anyway, hope you guys are doing well out there.
I've got a really great, heavily requested song that's really easy to play.
It's probably sounded pretty familiar.
It's because it's employing this [Em] weird concept called the axis of [D#] four awesome chords.
In other words, this little set of chords makes up a lot of really famous songs.
So I guess [F] the human ear likes to hear those chords together.
I'm going to [E] show it to you in this form with the capo.
Maybe you got one for Christmas, maybe not.
Capo on the first fret.
And then we're going to just learn a little rhythm and put the chords together.
Now, if you're a [N] beginner just starting out, I've got a chord and scale book and some
other videos that are not on YouTube.
You can actually click the link, that blue set of words right down there.
You can click that, check that out, and I can really help you dive deeper into learning
guitar and I really appreciate it.
Anyway, let's zoom in and work on this one right now.
Here we go.
All right, so we've got this thing, the axis of four awesome chords.
You don't have to call it that, but you'll see if you search it, you're going to see
a lot of stuff on it.
We're going to take the A minor chord, capo on the first fret though, and it's index finger
one fret up, middle finger on the second fret up of this D string, ring finger on the second
fret up of the G string [A#m] here.
That's our A minor.
The next chord's F.
[A#] You can play [C] it third, [A] second, first.
I'm going to do this.
That finger's on [F#] the first fret if we consider the capo zero.
That index [N] finger's on the first fret.
Middle finger's on the second fret of the G.
Ring finger now is on the third fret of
the A and pinky is tucked underneath on the third fret of the D string right there.
That's how I'm going to [F#] play F.
It's a great way.
I'm [E] actually not playing this top string here.
[F#] My thumb can even [Em] help mute it a bit.
I'm not paying attention to that, but [F#] it's there.
You've got [A#m] A minor.
[F#] If you look, the index finger's on the same [N] spot for both those chords.
That's one finger you don't have to worry [A#m] about.
[F#]
The next chord's a C [B] chord and there's actually two fingers that [D#] don't move.
The ring finger doesn't move [N] and the index finger doesn't move.
You simply take the pinky off and then move your middle finger up to the D string there
and you have a C [C#] major chord.
The last [D#] chord is a G [Fm] major chord.
[N] Typically a beginner would learn it with the middle finger three steps up here.
One, two, three.
Index finger the second fret and then reach with your ring finger over to the third fret
of this high E string [G#] here and you have the G chord.
That, [N] my friends, is the axis of four [A#m] chords.
A [F#] minor, F, [C#] C, [G#] G.
[F#] Now let's learn, there's really [G] only two parts and
[F#] the [D] main part is this.
[A#m] [C#]
[G#] [A#m] [F#] [C#]
[A#m] [C#]
[G#] [A#m]
[F#]
We're going to do down, down, up, down, up, down, down, down, up, down, down, up, down,
down, up, [D#] down, up, down, [F] down, [B] up, down, up, [E] down, up, down, up, down, [G#] up, down, [C]
up,
speed it up, [F#] [Em]
[F] add the chords, rinse, lather, repeat.
[A#m]
[C#] [G#] [A#m] [F#]
[C#] [G#] [A#m]
[C#] [G#] [A#m] [C#]
[G#] [A#m] [F#]
[C#] [N] So the other section which is kind of a breakdown, you could call it the verse of the song.
It does everything except for the G [C] and it's just you're letting [E] them ring out.
Those are [F] called whole [A#m] notes.
or [F#]
[E] actually depending on how you count it they could be half [A#m] notes so you got
A minor [F#]
F [C#] C A minor [F#] F [C#] C A minor [F#] F [C#] C A [A#m] minor [F#] [C#] F C [N] and there's one that does go
to the G and I can't remember the lyric that goes with it but it's like the
the second to the last one right before the right before the chorus so it'd be
[A#m] like you know do this [F#] one and [C#] do it [A#m] again [F#]
[A#m]
[F#] [C#] [A#m]
[F#] [C#] [G#]
[A#m] [F#] [C#]
[A#m] [F#] all [G#]
[A#m] [F#] [C#] [G#]
[A#m] [F#] [C#] [G#]
[A#m] [F#]
[A#m] [F#] [C#]
[E] right hope you had fun with
that remember I can help you out with even more stuff to learn guitar with
[F] that link right down there thank you for hanging out with me [C#] I should probably
not have any more coffee today but hopefully I'll see you in [C] another video
as and rolls in okay thank you everybody [G#m] see you later
