What's up guitar [N] friends?
My name is Robbie Trujillo and this channel is all about helping you become a better guitar player.
So thanks for learning this one with me today.
I got a request to do a lesson on Long Haired Country Boy by Charlie Daniels Band.
So that's what I'm going to be showing you how to play.
I'm just going to be playing it in the [D] standard tuning, but if you wanted to you could drop
the [E] sixth string down to a D note and play it in the drop D tuning.
But I'm just going to be showing you the standard tuning here.
So let's go ahead and get this one learned.
[G]
The chords we need for this one [D] are D, A, [A] G,
[G] and C add 9.
[C] Let's go [G] ahead and learn the intro first.
Starting out on [D] the D chord.
[Dm] [D] [G]
[B] [D]
The strumming pattern I'm doing is down, down, down, up, down, up.
We're
[A] starting out up here on the fifth string open and we're going to hammer on to the [Bm] second fret.
And then we're going to hit the fourth string open.
[D] And come back up to the fifth string open.
[F] Then coming to the fourth string third fret, we're going to pick that and bend it [D] and then
pull off to the fourth string open.
[A] [B] [D]
[A] [D] Then [Bb] coming down here to the second string first [C] fret, then the third string [A] second fret,
then the second [Am] string back [B] to open, [G] then the third string open, then second [A] fret third string,
then the fourth string [F] third fret, and back to [G] the third string open, then fourth string.
[Bb] [C] [B]
[G] [B] [G] Then up here to the fifth string [A] open, hammering onto the second fret,
[B] then [D] the fourth string open, then [E] second fret, and then back to [D] open.
[A] [Bm] [E] [D]
And then going back into our D strum.
So here's that straight through one more time.
[Dm] [D]
[G] [B] [G]
[D]
Okay, and here's our first verse.
People say I'm no good, crazy as they look.
I get stoned in the morning, I get drunk in the afternoon.
Kinda like my old blue tick hound, I like to lay around in the shade.
I ain't got no money, but I damn sure got it made.
The strumming pattern I'm doing for all this is down, down, down, up, down.
Then the chorus we start here on the G chord.
Cause [G] I ain't asking nobody for nothing, I can't get it on [D] my own.
If you [A] don't like the way I'm living, [G] just pay this long hair.
[D]
And [C] there at the end, all I'm doing is going from the C add 9,
then I'm going from the third fret here on the fifth string [B] to the second fret [A] to open.
[G]
I'm leaving my third and fourth fingers down here the whole time.
Leave this long hair country [Gb] boy.
And then on that last note, all I'm doing is hitting the bass note on the second fret
[Bm] before going back to the D.
[G] Just leave this long haired [D] country boy alone.
Okay, [Dm] [G]
[D]
we play the next verses and choruses the same way,
but let's just go ahead and play through the full thing together now.

[B] [D]
Preacher man on TV, putting down the rock and roll.
Wants me to send a donation, cause he's worried about my soul.
He said Jesus walked on the water, and I know that it's true.
Sometimes I think that preacher man would like to do a little walking too.
But I [G] ain't asking nobody for nothing, I can't get it on [D] my own.
If you [A] don't like the way I'm living, [G] just pay this long haired [D] country boy.
[Dm] [D]
A poor girl wants to marry, a rich girl wants to flirt.
A rich man goes to college, and a poor man goes to work.
A drunkard wants another drink of wine, and a politician wants to vote.
I don't want much of anything at all, but I will take another joke.
Cause I [G] ain't asking nobody for nothing, I can't get it on [D] my own.
If you [A] don't like the way I'm living, [Em] pay [G] this long haired [D] country boy.
