These were two special requests from the record company.
And now, [D] I'd like to play the song which brought me into this whole thing, good or bad.
It's a story about the Rock Island Line.
The Rock Island Line is a railroad line that runs down into New Orleans.
Just outside of New Orleans is a big toll gate.
And all the trains that go through the toll gate, they gotta pay the man some money.
Unless of course they got certain things on board.
And they're okay, they don't ever have to pay the man nothing.
Right now we see a train, she's coming down the line.
When she gets up near the toll gate, the depot agent shouts down to the driver.
He wants to know what he got on board.
He says, uh,
[G] [D] What you got on board?
He's a loud speaking man.
The driver, he shouts right back on down to the man, telling him what he got on board.
I got pigs, I got sheep, I got cows, I got horses,
I got all livestock, I got all livestock, I got all, all livestock.
And the man says, alright then boy, get him right on through you.
You don't have to pay me nothing.
So the train going down through the toll gate.
And as she goes through, she got up a little bit of steam and a little bit of speed.
[G] [D]
Look out, do a 180, I'll come.
When she's safely on the other side,
the driver shouts back on down the line to the man,
because he don't care what he's saying now, going home.
Going down the Rock Island line.
So I fooled you, I fooled you, I got pig iron, I got pig iron, I got all pig iron.
I'll tell you where I'm going, I'm going to tell her.
Going down the Rock Island line, to the mighty good road, yes indeedy.
