_ _ [D] _ _ [Dm] Isn't [Bm] she lovely?
[E] Isn't [A] she wonderful?
[D] Hey guys, how's it going?
Lord Shang here.
I'm going to teach you guys today how to play Isn't She Lovely, or at least how I played in the video.
Just a [B] side note, in the video that I played it, I was sitting down an entire whole step.
[A#] And I'm almost always sitting down a half step, but today I'm [D] tuning standard, just for you guys.
Alright, so let's get started.
There's essentially two phrases to this song.
I usually call it the A and the B phrase.
So yeah, the A phrase starts with a C sharp minor 7 chord.
And the chord diagram is going to be in one of these corners.
So, yeah, [C#m] it goes like this.
_ Next chord is [F#] an F sharp 7.
_ And the next chord is a B7.
[B] _ And then an E [E] major.
So [C#m] together it _ [F#] _ _ [B] _
_ [E] _ _ _ _ _ [B] _ _
[E] goes_
And usually to come around again, I just kind of suspend the E chord [G] like that.
[G#] That's the A phrase.
So now we're on to the B phrase.
The B phrase is slightly [A#] more tricky.
It starts out on [E] an E, [B] and it goes to an F sharp [F#m] minor 7.
[F#] You can either play just the three strings, the F [F#m] sharp, the E, and the A, like I do in the video.
[F#] Or you can play all the strings, excluding the A string.
In the diagram here.
But you'd make it, I think, an F sharp minor 7, 11.
Or F sharp minor 11, something like that.
[G#] And then the next chord is a G sharp [G#] minor 7, if you play the three strings.
But if you play the bottom two strings, which you can,
[E] I think you turn into a G sharp minor 7 flat 6, something like that.
It's been too long since I've taken music theory.
[B] So let's recap.
[E] So it goes E, [F#] F sharp [E] minor 7, G sharp minor 7, which I'm going to call instead of those fancy names.
And it goes to an A [A] major 7.
_ And [G#] then you're going to go to an G sharp 7, and then a [C#m] C sharp minor 7, and then [F#] F sharp 7.
[G#] And then F [E] sharp minor 7, G sharp [A] minor 7, A [Em] major 7, B7, [E] back to the E.
So let me play it one time through for you guys.
And the chords will still be in the corners.
So I'll do it, yeah, so here we go.
[A] _ _ [G#] _
_ [C#m] _ _ _ [F#m] _ _ [A] _ _
[E] Like that.
And that is the B [F] phrase.
Alright.
So, and lastly, the only part that's left is [G] the lick.
So it goes [B] like this.
_ [Em] Like that.
So the [B] lick starts out on the B note on your E string.
So here, at the 7th fret, I think.
Yes.
So you're going to go from B, and the same string, you go to the [C#] C sharp.
Then you go to E on [E] the next string.
Then F sharp.
[G#m] And then G sharp.
Alright.
[E] So I'm going to go, _ [G#m] but the [G] F sharp is a grace note.
So you're just going to [D#] really quickly pass right through it.
So like this.
_ [G#m] Alright.
[E] So.
And after that, you're going [B] to go back again to the B, but up the octave.
To a C [C#] sharp again.
And then E again, up the octave.
[Em] So, [E] _
like that.
[N] And then afterwards, you hit the 12th fret harmonic of the E and the B [E] string.
And [Em] you can choose a vibrato if you want, like this.
_ I know, that's stupid.
Okay.
But yeah, [B] that's the entire song.
So, thanks for listening.
Thanks for tuning in.
[A] Peace and love, y'all.
It's so very lovely.
[G] _ [A] _ Made
