I've only got my new guitar, and I've got a week to get here, but I'm worse than a kid on bloody Christmas
because I can't, you know, I can't stand waiting for a new guitar to come via courier.
But it's here, dammit, so hopefully you can see it.
It's got this beautiful quilted maple top.
Hopefully the camera [B] can get some of that.
But, um, if you have a look at most of my other, well virtually all of my other videos,
I'm definitely a flying V guy, I've discovered.
So it's a bit weird to have something that's basically [A] a Liz Paul shape.
So [N] I took this to band practice on the weekend, and I kind of found [G#] myself
almost tap dancing with my right foot, trying to figure out what the bloody hell do I do with it
because there's no V to sort of put [C#] my leg through.
So, um, it's actually quite a nice guitar.
The only thing it did need was get the fret edges [G#] sort of filed down so they're all nice and smooth.
[F#m] And, um, basically back off the truss rod a little bit because there's a little bit on the tight side.
[G#m] So I've got a little bit of neck relief in there now, but, [C#] um,
the other thing I've really done to it is I've put an EMJ 85 in the bridge.
It's just a [B] lot thicker sounding than the 81.
Personally, as far as EMJs, I like the 85 in the bridge and the 60 in [G#] the neck.
Andy James [D] uses, or used to use the same combination.
[C#m] But it's got, I don't know if you can see them,
[A#m] [B] the ESP locking tuners, which are great, really, really help it stay in tune.
Um, the Tones Pro locking [C#] bridge, which really help the sustain.
And Avalone, [N] everywhere.
Avalone, whatever you want to call it.
But this thing looks like [G#m] something a friggin' pimp would play.
It is, it's pimped out, mate.
But, it's cool.
Um, the neck's actually, it's kind of like a, [C#] hmm, kind of like a,
it's almost like an organ, for God's sake.
But, um, so just a little, I never do this, but,
[A] Um, clean.
[B] But anyway, we've got master tone,
um, [A] volume for, well I guess that one's for [E] the neck.
And bridge [C] volume, so it's kind of cozy in here,
because you get that [Gm] whole [E]
[A] [G#] sort of violin thing, which is kind of cozy.
Um, and a 3-way switch.
[Em] But, the only thing that's on [C] right now is my MXR Carbon copy.
[Em] That's it.
So,
[C]
[Em]
Both pickups.
[F#]
[F] [E] [Em]
[F#] [F] [E]
[Em] [F#]
[F] [Em]
Both pickups, so this is a 60.
[F#m] [F]
[Em]
[F#m] [Am] [Em]
[C#]
[C#m] This is exactly why I like a guitar with one friggin' volume control.
You can [D] see from the video, if I start, [A] I've got no sound.
[Am]
Especially on a [G] guitar with one volume.
[E] The neck pickup, so,
Uh, [C] nothing more embarrassing [C#m] than when you,
you know, if you're playing a lot of [Em] crunchy riffs,
you can't do that.
If you've got volumes up.
But anyway, [B]
um, so, I'll turn the delay off.
So [D#] just for the AMG 85 [E] and the bridge,
I'll turn it off.
[D]
[E]
[F] [E]
[G]
[A]
[F#]
[C] [B] [G]
[C#] [E]
[F#]
[E] [G] [F]
[E] [Em]
So that was the 60.
I'll have a bit of delay [D] with the Carbon copy on.
Okay, so we'll just [C#m] continue from the neck.
[C#] Um,
[A]
[E] [Fm]
[C#]
[D]
[C] [Bm]
[Am] [G]
[Bm]
[G] [Em]
[C]
[D] [G]
So
[D] [E] there's the neck, and as far as the sustain,
[D]
[A] I'll turn it off.
If this ends up [A#] too bad then the noise gate will probably cut it off.
Um, [G] both pickups.
[Fm]
[B]
[G]
[B]
[Em] Bridge pickup.
[G]
[G#]
[A] [E] [F#]
[B] It's actually quite a nice guitar neck.
This one is a 24th fret, you can get up there pretty much no worries.
[D]
[E]
[F#]
[F#m] So, there's my Eclipse, or
