Just in the last like two weeks, all of a sudden,
she has become very interested in the idea that I make money when I sing.
I'm not sure what started this.
It seems to be thematically related to the fact that all she wants to play is Monopoly.
Like, she's really into this whole money thing, and she's also,
she doesn't understand denominations really [F] because like when we play Monopoly
she gets really excited if she gets a [N] bunch of singles.
And she, also thematically related, I've noticed quite recently
she's started to try to bribe me.
Like, if she wants another, I don't know, bowl of ice cream,
she'll say, I'll give you $10 million.
Anyway, so a week ago she called me up and said,
oh, right, I was about to go on stage, it was like an hour before my show in Virginia,
and she said, Mommy, how much are you going to make tonight?
Are you going to make a million dollars?
No.
And then the week after, last week,
I was having a meeting with someone that I think I'm going to be doing some work with.
And so Molly knew that this woman was going to be hiring me to do [F] some singing.
[C#] And I had to go to a meeting with her and some other people,
and I had to bring Molly because I didn't have a babysitter,
my husband was working, so I brought her, and she was such a good girl.
She sat and just played her little de-es.
You guys know about de-esses?
Yeah.
Anyway.
[F] But in the middle of the meeting, there's this pause, and she whispers to me,
[C#] when is she going to pay you?
[F]
[F#] So, that's my girl.

I wrote this song when we were first [B] starting the adoption [E]
process.
[A] [C#m] And we didn't know anything about Molly.
[B] And we didn't find out anything [C#m] about Molly until about six weeks before we went to China.
We got [B] two tiny little photos of a [C#m] frowning baby girl [B]
with beautiful black hair.
[C#m]
But [E] when I wrote this, we didn't know anything except that there was [A] a baby girl [C#m] waiting for us somewhere,
and she [B] would be our daughter, and we would call her Molly.
[C#m] This is a love song.
I'm all emotional tonight.
[E]
When I found [C#m] you, I knew that you'd be mine.
[B] It wasn't my first kiss, [C#m] wasn't my first time.
It [A] was the first time I gave my heart [C#m] when I wasn't just alone.
[C#] I put it in your hands, [A] and I followed you home.
[E] Now I'm on the interstate, [C#m] wishing I could sleep.
[B] I see you lying in our [C#m] bed, waiting up for me.
[A] While I'm taking in the view, [C#m] I'm wishing I could give you [B] what I wanted to.
[A]
You know I want it to.
[E] This is home, [A] where I want to be.
[B] This is home.
[A] Let's make a family.
[E] Baby, you and me.
[A]
[B] Baby, you and me.
[A]
[E] She's lying on a bed [C#m] in some crowded room, [B] trying to sleep.
[C#m] Not much else to do.
[A] The faces change around her.
They [C#m] speak to her sometimes.
[B]
She's getting used to being [A]
left behind.
[F#]
When we find her, [C#m] we'll belong to her.
[B] We won't see her first [C#m] smile, won't hear her first word.
[A] But ours will be the first hearts she [C#m] holds in her hand.
[B]
She can keep them beside her [A] in our very own.
This [E] is home, where [A] I want to be.
This [B] is home.
[A] Let's make a family.
