[E] Shangri-La is one [A] of the great places to record.
[E] It's like a blank canvas, sort of like a sanctuary.
It's a good [A] place to allow your creative energy to [B] flow.
She's a [E] rebel and I like her
[A] It don't take much to make [E] her yell
[C#m] We're really proud of our last [A] record.
There were some songs that I wish were on there that didn't make it on,
[E] and that's why we get to do Naked [B] Garden.
I'm [E] a civilized hero
Back [G]
when [C] I cared I was a little [F] [C] adventury
[G] Now there ain't nobody else who's gonna satisfy [C] me
Flying like an [F] eagle in [C] the air
But [G] I'm a happier man now than back when I cared
We [C] recorded about 20 [G] tracks in 6 days,
and [F] that includes the [G] full album that we put out,
[C] Turn Off the News, Build a Garden.
[G] So this is the [Dm] other half of the [C]
material.
[C#] [F] This shows what the [C#] spirit of those sessions over at Shangri-La [A#m] was.
[F#] I'm making a movie
In [G#] my mind about the way I wanna see my [C#]
life
For me, it was [F#] my favorite record we've made so far.
We never forced anything, and I think playing with Neal
for the last several [G#] years has really taught us a lot.
And we've [C#] learned a lot from Neal about channeling that spirit.
[F#]
[G#] The world will love me loving [F#m] [D] you
You can hear the life in the music.
I just came from listening to one of the songs in the [F] control room,
and you [D] feel it breathing, it's alive.
[F] [D]
[G] The Promise of the Real is an experiment,
it's a [D] social experiment.
When you call your band Promise of the Real,
it means you [G] have to say,
[C] Okay, are we living up to [G] that standard?
And [C] so we've made some changes and we're [G] really happy,
and now [C] we get to release this record the way we want [G] it.
[C]
[G] I love how [C] raw it is and how true to us [G] it is, and real it [C] is.
