I never promised you [C] a road to garden.
I could promise you things like big diamond rings, but you [A] don't find
I beg your [Bm] pardon.
I
[E] never promised [A] you a road to garden.
I hope [Bm] the sunshine's
[E] got a feeling [A] for you.
Hey y'all, it's Leslie here, right outside the Woodlawn Funeral Home, and today we're here for the Lynn Anderson Funeral Services.
Fans are here in attendance, along with artist friends, including the Oak Ridge Boys, Connie Smith, and speaker Brenda Lee.
It's also the [N] same cemetery that George Jones is buried in, and in a few minutes they're going to have a dove releasing right behind me here at the end of the funeral.
We'll have more coming up right here at the Nashville Country Club.
I'm here because Lynn Anderson was my friend.
I remember the first day I saw her.
She was just a teenager in a red dress, singing, and just fresh.
It was so great to watch her and know that there was a new star rising.
And then, of course, wasn't long after that she had Rose Garden, and everybody knows Rose Garden.
But Lynn was not only a really fine singer, she was a great entertainer.
And I always loved being on the shows with her, because I'd get a chance to watch her show.
But I loved her.
Well, I'm so sad, like everybody [Bm] else, to hear that Lynn Anderson passed away.
She's [B] more kind of in my age group, and we used to work together a lot, [B] doing different package shows and singing, and many times here at the Ryman [G] Auditorium.
And I was really sad to hear about that, [C#] and I had made comment and a quote yesterday.
Of course, her big song, of course, was Rose Garden.
I said, I believe she's blooming now, and God's [B] Rose Garden.
So she'll be missed, she'll be remembered.
She was a lovely lady.
Yeah, it's been great.
And you have a gorgeous outfit on today.
You're pretty in white.
Thank you.
Yeah, this is my angel costume.
