_ _ [C] _ _ [G] Hey, [G] guitar friends, I hope you're all doing great.
Thank you so much for being [D] here and learning a little bit more with me today.
I appreciate all of you guys so much.
Today I'm doing a request for Ricky who wanted to learn how to play Make It Sweet by Old Dominion.
So that's what we're going to be working on today.
If you're finding these videos helpful, [G] please leave a comment down below and let me know
what you like about them.
If you don't like something that I do, please leave a comment as well and let me know how
I can do things better.
I just appreciate all of you guys so much and appreciate your feedback.
So thanks so much for being here.
Let's go ahead and get this song learned today.
Okay, the chords we're going to need today are G, C, [D] _ [Em] E minor, B [Bm] minor, [Am] A minor, _ [D] and_
_ So here's what our intro is going to sound like if we're just going to be strumming it. _
_ _ _ _ [G] _ _ _ _
[C] _ _ _ [G] Okay, so what I'm doing here, this strumming pattern is down, down, down, up, down, up. _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ On your first down, if you want, you can just hit the bass note and count that as one of your downs.
_ _ _ _ That's our intro.
If we want to [Eb] play that little picking pattern in there, we can [Ab] start on the G chord and
just hit the first and [G] sixth strings and then hit the third string open. _ _
Then we're going to alternate between the third string and the first string. _ _ _
_ _ [F] So as we slide [G] up, _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ we're just going to slide up from the third to the fifth to the seventh
frets, alternating with the open third string between each slide. _ _ _
_ [C] _ _ _ _ [G] _ So you can do that for the intro if you'd like as well.
Then we go into the first verse, which is going to start on the G chord.
So here's the first verse for you.
I know it's a drag.
I know it's a grind.
I know that [C] a dollar ain't for nine.
[G] Trying to keep up with the jaunties at [C] the end of the block.
[G] I know you get tired.
I know you get down.
I know you get sick [C] of the soul-sucking town.
[G] Let's make a little lemonade if lemon is all we [C] got.
_ _ [G] _ _ So same strumming pattern there.
And then we go right into the first [D] chorus, starting on the G chord as well.
So here's the chorus for you.
[G] As I'm stuck on you and you're stuck on me, I [C] never want to wonder where my honey be.
[G] I ain't saving all my sugar for a Saturday night.
[C] Seven days a week, I got an [Em] appetite.
The sun sets like tangerine.
[C] Let's find a road we've never [Em] seen.
Waste another mile or a minute not [C] kissing me.
Life is short, [G] make it sweet. _
_ _ And then our bridge, we're going to add in a couple more chords for the bridge.
So after the second chorus, we go right into the bridge.
_ [C] So life is short, [G] make it sweet.
_ _ _ _ _ [A] _
_ _ _ _ We're going C, B minor, [Am]
A minor, G, and [D] then D.
So you can play it.
[G] You can just hit the bass note if you want.
You can [C] play the C chord, _ then the B chord.
Leaving your fingers in the same place down here [C] on the first and second frets.
[G] _ _ _
_ [D] You can play C or _ you can play the full chords.
I'm just going to play the bass notes here.
So [B] let's run right [C] into the bridge.
[G] _ _ [D] Days will be long, but the years will fly right by.
_ _ We'll never be as young as we are tonight.
Baby, ain't that right?
_ [G] _ _ _ _ [C] _
