River wide and river deep calls me to [Dm]
her side [B]
to protect [C] and for her speak.
Water she sends, it [D] is by the river.
How does the [G] power of song bridge the past and future and bring us to present time for
experience of healing, collective healing?
are [Abm] friends of [C] mine from [Ab] valley [F] floor to mountain [B] peaks.
we released Heart New Bow and since then our focus as musicians, as activists,

_ _ All are [Abm] _ friends of [C] mine _ _ _ _ from [Ab] valley _ [F] floor to _ mountain [B] _ _ peaks.
[N] So 2015 we released Heart New Bow _ and since then our focus as musicians, as activists, _
_ is starting to change a bit.
There is a fire that's here right now to _ be living in a way that is [Gb] really in [G] alignment
with what we're singing.
Lay _ down your weapon.
[A] At the time when really Standing Rock was really peaking, we were on [Fm] tour and just in
this question of like, do [B] we be there?
Where is it best to be?
Where are we best in [C] service?
And during [B] that time, _ _ _ a song came through that we call [Bb] For Her Speak. _ _ _ _
[D] And this song felt like it needed [Eb] a voice.
_ I just kept thinking, [D] man, I [Gb] want this to be [Eb] Lila June.
We don't know Lila June.
_ She was really gracious.
[C] _ _ [D] _ _ [Eb] Yeah, just came in and powerfully shared a piece of a poem that she had written and lent
that to us to really empower this song.
And so grateful for her willingness. _ _
The only weapons that are useful in this battle are the weapons [Gm] of truth, _ of faith, _ and compassion.
_ [G] I [Em]
feel like we're waking up to [G] what is, not just the beauty of what is and seeing kind
of from the _ God's eyes, the bigger perspective.
[C] And we have had that and we hold that and starting to kind of [Em] walk on the ground [G] some
too, I'm really like, whoa, there's a lot happening here.
And how can we [C] as _ musicians, as [A] people who [Am] sing in front of many [G] people, how can we _ name
[Em] and sing and tease out some [G] of what's here, some of what's still asleep in all of us as
we wake up?
How can we help to cultivate more awareness and awakeness?
[Ab] _ _ _ [A] Creating [Em] this album, this body, as we sat with these songs, they ask those questions.
And they're with the hope and they're with the curiosity, the wonder, _ what's emerging
and also, _
[F] _ you know, unafraid to look at what has been.
_ _ _ And [B] that feels essential in walking right now _ [Ab] _ _
in these times. _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ [C] So the song, We Shall Be Known, is another [D] one that came through in [G] a dream.
_ [A] Yeah, when I hear that people are singing that song [C] all over _ as a way to be [G] a stand
for what they believe [Gb] in.
_ That's awesome!
I just get so [Em] fired [Db] up that people can take that [C] and shine it and shake it and sing [B] it
with each other and that it lifts them up.
It's like, [G] alright, I am there, we are there.
_ _ We shall be known by the company we keep, by the ones who circle _ round to tend these paths. _ _
_ _ _ _ We [F] shall be known by the ones who sow and reap the seeds of change alive from deep within the earth. _ _
It is time _ now, it is time now that we thrive, it [Gb] is time we lead ourselves into the _ well.
_ As we held that bundle at the fire at [G] the end of that video shoot, there was a really
_ strong, [D] there was a prayer [C] that was made there [Bm] to _ [G] continue this _ weaving, to continue reparations,
to continue the walk of power and humility. _ _ _
