_ [C#m] marty jones hi [Bm] marty jones how are [B] you _
_ _ [E] _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ excuse me are you marty jones _ yes [A#] oh wow [Bm] i wanted to meet you still [N] here in norway
yeah nice to meet you i i don't think most norwegians know who you are
maybe you should [Gm] present yourself it's quite possible um well i've just come from the united
states just [Am] hopped off a plane um [D] _ this [G] is a _ i've just released i guess the second record was just
released here in november um i had one solo record before that it's called unsophisticated time
that came out i think uh january of 86 _ so hopefully more norwegians will know i hope so
what do you say if i say that you play country music or country rock music
well _ uh i think there's an influence there i've always been a fan of country music i love patsy
klein and and a _ lot of a lot of country singers but i really don't think that it's that that
important [D#] or that um prominent in the songs that i do i think they're more just typical
pop songs i was [N] talking to henning fitness from little eden earlier in this program
and he mentioned don dixon his producer which is also your producer right right henning and [G] i have
that in common and henning and i have been able to speak over the phone because of uh well through
don dixon i just happened to be around when he was remixing some things in the united states and
_ helped him push buttons and stuff so in a sense i had something to do with henning's record _ _
the songs that you have on your album is mostly written by men and that's elvis costello david
how do [Gm] you get you sing songs like that well first of all it's not a conscious effort i'm
not trying to just sing songs by men it seems don't you think that a lot of women who write
songs usually are singers as well there are a lot of great women singers so that [G] they've already
recorded their songs and um sort of hard for me as as a woman singer to top what they've done or
to make it different so that it's easier to to sing a song that was written by a man or already
sung by a man because there's that difference there just being turning the gender around and
being uh singing a song that a man has written _ um [Em] the songs just come [D#] from everywhere um _ anywhere
from songs that [B] i already know like just a memory that i've loved and uh soul love david bowie it's
one of my favorites when i was in high school it was a real popular album ziggy stardust two songs
that have been written for me don dixon wrote inside these arms for me um we wrote be myself
again together [G] and um _ chance of a lifetime was written by dwight twilly and sent to me on a tape
it had never before been recorded and i liked it his girlfriend is um susan cowsell i don't know
if you remember the cow sales they were a singing family they all have the same teeth [E] like the
ozman yeah i did [C#] oh the cows had a big space [G] between their front teeth [D#] but uh susan cowsell
was one of the younger ones she's grown up now and and um she and dwight twilly are an item and
she's got a great singing voice and she sings all of his demo [G] songs so i really liked her voice when
i heard it [D] on the demo and decided to do that song but mostly
