_ So, _ I love playing over slow blues and one of the _ cool things about it is you don't have to do much.
[Ab] I just used _ _ _ three notes.
I used _ the C, the E flat and the F.
And I bend them and I slurred them
and _ I tried to basically put as much feeling and expression into those three notes as I can.
_ _ _ [D] _ _
First chorus in one octave and then the second chorus we just take it up _ _
_ an octave but it's the same three notes _ and _ _ we're just developing _ _ a theme over _ the blues
with a very simple vocabulary and worrying about _ all the other stuff rather than the notes that
makes it sound good.
And that's harder than it seems _ to get that kind of mileage out of a few
notes but it's a really, really great exercise to clear your head from _ worrying about scales
_ and all that kind of stuff and just start feeling and playing the music.
And that's _ still to this
day when I'm on a gig _ _ sometimes I just step back and go I'm just going to start with this simple
idea _ and you'll find that the _ new ideas start snowballing out of that by just giving yourself
that kind of break from the technicality of the guitar for a second. _
