Hey guys and welcome back to this week's episode of Toons with Tara.
My name is Tara.
It's
very nice to see you all back.
This week I have a Sarah McLachlan [Dm] song for you guys,
so I hope you enjoy.
Heaven bend to take my hand [F] and lead me through the fire.
[C] Be the long [Dm]-awaited answer [Bb] to a
long and painful [F] fight.
[Dm] Truth be told I've tried my best, [F] but somewhere along [C] the way
[Dm] got caught up [Am] in all there was to [F] offer.
And the [Dm] cost was so much [Am] more than I could bear.
And though [Gm] I've [Bb] tried falling, [F] I have [C] sunk so [Gm] low.
I've [Bb] messed up, [C] better I should [Gm] know.
So [Bb] don't come round here [F] and tell me I've [G] told you [Gm] so.
[Bb]
[A]
[Dm] We all begin with good intent, in [Bb] love with wrought young.
[F] We [C]
believe that we can [Dm] change
ourselves, [Bb] the past can be [F] undone.
But [Dm] we carry on our backs a burden [Bb] time always [F] reveals.
[C] In the lonely light of morning, in a wound that would [Bb] not heal, it's [Gm] the bitter taste of losing everything.
I've [F] held so [Gm] dear and I've fallen, [F] I have [C] sunk so [Gm] low.
I've [Bb] messed up, [F] [C] better [C] I should know.
[Gm] So don't [Bb] come round here and [F] tell me I've [C] told you so.
[Gm]
[Bb]
[F] [C]
[Gm]
[Dm] Heaven bend to take my [Bb] hand, nowhere left [F] to turn.
[C] I am lost to those [Dm] I thought were [F] friends.
Everyone I know, oh they [Dm] turn their heads embarrassed.
[F] Pretend that they don't [C] see,
and [Dm] it's only a step [Am] one step.
[Bb] And [Dm] there doesn't seem a [Am] way to be redeemed.
And though [Gm] I've [Bb] tried falling, [F] I have [C] sunk so [Gm] low.
I've [Bb] messed up, [F] better
[C] I should [Gm] know.
So don't come [Bb] round here and [F] tell me I've [C] told you so.
[Gm]
[G] [F] Tell me that [C] I don't know.

So now it's time for this week's Tara's Talks.
This week's Tara's Talks comment comes from
Love is a many beautiful thing to see.
And they ask, just wondering, when did you start singing?
What was the first song that you memorized and had sung from start to finish?
When did you start to play piano
and was it quite easy for you or was it challenging at first?
So, great series of questions.
One, I started singing probably as long as I can remember.
I can remember sneaking downstairs
to sing along with the National Anthem because it used to play on TVO Kids, Television Ontario,
that's the channel.
National Anthem used to play on the TV, and so I'd come down and turn it on and sing along with it.
So I really enjoyed that.
But what was the first song that I memorized and had sung from start to finish?
And that would have been Bob Dylan's Blowing in the Wind.
I'll attach a clip of me singing it at the talent show at the very end.
When did I start to play piano?
So I took piano lessons as a kid, but I wasn't really super into it.
I probably really started playing piano maybe when I was [A] 13?
[G] Maybe?
It's probably about right.
It was challenging at first.
I figured out the chords because I was learning music theory at the same time,
and so I figured that the chords I was playing on guitar were probably just the same as the ones I was playing on piano,
and then I just turned them all into triads, and then I learned what inversions were, and how I could make things easier to play.
And over the years, I've gotten better and better and better.
When I was studying in my undergrad,
we had to take keyboarding for non-pianists and keyboarding for music therapists.
So that's kind of where I honed my skills even more, and I still wouldn't say that I'm a piano player.
I would still say that I'm a singer who plays piano.
So great set of questions.
I hope you guys are having a great day, and I will see you guys next time.
Have a great day.
