[F] [D] The [N] reception has been incredible.
We've had
Every show has been sold out so far.
This has been amazing.
The people are obviously very friendly and the beer is great.
Yeah, it's been nothing but a very pleasant time here.
We've asked ourselves that many many times, curious as to why
particularly in Germany, if it's taking off so much, but
the only answer that we can come up with is that there's a niche market that is just growing and growing and for some reason we
seem to slip into a really good spot in that niche and it just continues to go.

It's always so very very interesting and fun to create the [N] songs and add in the different parts and then it's also
amazing to play it for your fans and friends, but the best part is seeing how much it's grown from the moment you wrote it
to the most recent time that you've played it.
Songs always grow.
And usually how does it go?
What comes first, lyrics, music?
Is there no rule?
There is no rule for us really or
me in general even, there's no rule.
I sit down usually with a guitar and I
usually put down lyrics and then some chords and then I kind of just start building around it as much as possible.
I think Scott does a lot of the same in that sense where he will write
music first and then lyrics will come afterwards.
So we always play around with different ideas.
And when it comes to lyrics, what is the inspiration for the stories about bar fights and drinking whiskey?
It comes from everywhere.
It comes from inspiration from films that we've seen, from television series to
just music that we've listened to over the years.
I'm a big fan of
stories, so I like to write stories and make up stories as I go.
Sometimes I'll take an event that, a
little piece of a true event and then I'll build a story around that too.
What was the Dead South before it became the Dead South?
Your roots, your background?
Yes, everyone is different.
Danny was classically trained
cello.
So he played a lot of that style of music, but he also grew up listening to a lot of rock.
He's a very good electric guitar player as well.
Scott grew up listening to metal and singer-songwriter stuff.
Played a lot of piano and trumpet growing up.
Colton
played the clarinet actually and electric guitar.
Very good metal guitar player and he just picked the banjo no problem.
Kind of lays out a lot of metal riffs on the banjo, which is really interesting.
And then myself, I grew up listening to everything classical to punk or metal to meatloaf.
You name it, probably listen to it.
And then I started playing piano and saxophone when I was younger.
Didn't work out so well.
I just started playing guitar more recently and
kind of fell into it.
So everyone kind of amalgamated their
musical [C] backgrounds together and that's what created the Dead [G] South.
