Memphis Stomp main groove bars 1 8 left hand chords
Start Jamming...
So Memphis Stomp, Dave Groosing, this is the basic groove starting after the [Fm] intro.
That's the intro, we're not going to do that just yet, first we'll get this.
[F] [Gm] [Fm]
[Bb] [Cm] [Fm] [Bb] [Fm]
[Bb] [Fm] [Cm] [Bb] [F]
That's the [C] start bit, ok so basically it's [N] the same thing, the same two bar groove four times.
It features the chords [F] F7 to a [Bb] Bb back to an [F] F7 and then a sort of C [Ab] altered.
[D]
[N] That's roughly the shape of each of the four bars, or each pair of two bars should I say.
The left hand is a good place to start, it's a very bouncy melodic bass.
It starts with a [F] C and F down low, there, then instantly hops up for a bit of melody,
[A] [F]
[N] so that's bar one.
There's also bar three, five and seven, so you've got this repeating [F] pattern.
It's, [A] [F] ok, you might want to get a thumb on that last F, because next bar you're going
down to an [A] A,
[Bb] Bb, [C] F, C and then a low C, G.
So from [F] the start of this it's, [A] [F] [A] [C]
[Ab] ok, and then the next two [F] bars, [A]
[F] [Bb] [C]
[F] and again, three, four.
[Ab] [F]
[Bb] [C] [Ab] Right, ok, and now bars five and six, [F] [A]
[F] [Bb] [C] and again, [E] three, [F] four.
[Ab] [F] [Bb]
[C] [Abm] Finally, bars seven and eight of the first [F] set of eight is, [A] [F]
[Cm] now octave As, [A] octave [Bb] Bb,
and [Cm] now whang [F] out low Fs, [Bb] if whang is the right word.
They're accented anyway.
So bars seven and eight, go, three, [Fm] four, [F] [A] [Bb] [F]
and again, three, four.
[A] [Bb] [F]
[B] Sorry, I got that Bb in the wrong place last time.
[Ebm] I'll do that one more time, two, three, [Fm] four.
[F] [A] [Bb] [F]
[Abm] So that whole F10, from the start, a [F] one, two, three, four.
[A] [F] [C]
[Fm] [F] [Bb] [C]
[Fm] [F] [Bb] [C] [Fm]
[F] [A] [Bb] [F]
So it's basically, da da da [B] da da, and then something.
Ok, and that's it.
