This is the side of the neck of the Merlin Banjo.
These holes here that I put screws in are threaded holes to accommodate a hook for a strap.
[N] Banjo's neck is so heavy that the strap needs to be out here somewhere to keep it balanced.
There's a series of holes at each fret past the fifth string peg for capoing the fifth string.
I've made up a clip that was supposed to be similar to what I've seen that Merlins came with.
They slip into the hole in the neck and then you push it on up and over the string to fret it for [C#] capoing.
[D] That's what these other series of holes here are for.
Aside from the fret markers, there's holes here all the way up to the 15th fret.
That's another Merlin innovation that they have.
