Message In A Bottle (SOS) - TUTORIAL Police LICK chords
Start Jamming...
Hey guys, my name is David Muzzio, and I'm going to teach you how to play the song message in a bottle
Also called SOS [B] by the police, and I'm going to teach you in two parts
This is the first tutorial and this is for the [A#] main lick of the song which is the add nine chords
and this [G] is the [B] verses and the outro and then the second tutorial will be will be for the
main [G#m] parts of the song which is the
[B] Chorus and basically the [N] two there's like a court two parts of the chorus and then a pre-chorus alright
So I'm going to teach you right now Yeah
the verses and the outro and the main way to play them to lick and then an easier way to play them if you just [D#] want
To kind of sing the song and it's kind of [F#] it's a little bit difficult to play and sing at the same time
So here's the main [N] lick alright.
It's a add nine chords
starting on a basically C sharp minor add [D#] nine chord at the
A string fourth [C#] fret
D string at the sixth fret [G#] and
[A#] G [N] string at the ninth fret
Sorry [D#] eighth fret
So it's these [A#] three and it just picks those three
All right, so [B] one two three which is a [C#] DG
[A#] [B] All right, that's the first part the second part [G#] actually first.
Let me play through at one time
I'll play through the lick or so you can hear it
All [F#] [A]
[F#] [C#] right, so that's the lick right there all right, so again it starts on [G#] that C sharp, so
[B] then you move down and
[E] You're this time you don't you play the same chord same [B] chord shape, but you just don't play your index finger
Because you're gonna play it on
Based off of an a chord now, [D#] so now it's going to be open [A] a
[A] D string at the second fret [E] and
G string at the fourth fret so all [A#] right so first one is
[A] Second chord [N] and now you slide up here two frets, and you're going to play second fret a [B] string
fourth fret D string
Sixth fret on the G string [C#] all right, so now [A] those three chords together are [A] [B] all right
And here's the last one which is probably the most [N] difficult the last chord you're just going to take and move everything up one string
All right, so now you're going to be so just move everything up just from here to here [G#] and then
To one lower string than it was on before so now you're gonna play E string [F#] second fret
The [C#] a string fourth fret and D string at the [G#] sixth fret so you play
[A#] All right, so same thing just picks right [C#] downwards, okay, so
[A] And then this is the most complicated part or most kind of difficult part to do after you hit
when [B] you hit that sixth fret on the
On the D string that last note you're going to slide it [G#] up
So you hit it and you slide it up one half fret from the sixth string?
at the
[B] sixth fret at the
D string to the seventh fret of the D string so
So it goes [A] [C#]
all right, [C] so when you do that slowly it sounds like this
[A] [B]
[C#] [G#] And then you do it a regular speed sounds like this
[A]
[F#] [A] [F#] [G#] [A#] All right, so that's the lick right there [A] um now if you want to play this and sing it at the same time
It's kind of difficult to play that even though.
That's a great
[G] Stretching kind of chordal exercise [C#] so if you want to play this and just to sing along
It's probably easier to just [B] strum and play these chords C [C#m] sharp minor chord
to an [A] A major chord
[C] to a B major [B] chord
to an [F#m] F sharp minor chord
And you can go like this
[C#]
[A] You can just strum it and play those chords
[F#] Just the cast [C#m] away
I am [E] here I see
[F#m] [F#m] Another lonely day [F#] and no [B] one here thought me
All [G] [B] right, so that's the other way to play this that's the first part and that is the verses and [A#] the SOS so
[A] Send it [F#] out
SOS
sending out
[A#] Or Or
[F#] [G#] If we're playing it
