Metal Church - The making of "Damned If You Do" chords
Start Jamming...
the blow.
[B] Having a career that long and being that deep into the number of albums from one band is pretty amazing.
The more I think about it, [D] the more grateful I get.
I mean [D] I didn't really see this happening but it's so amazing to still be doing this.
It's old school heavy metal but with a positive message.
Mike coming [Bb] back into the group is kind of like an extension of the Mike Howe era from
[A] 1987 to 1994.
Having Mike back in the band is the reason the band is still going.
[C] [F]
[D]
That helped me as
a writer to him and I to work together [F] again, put together the music and then Mike and I collaborated
on the [A] vocals and melody.
This album, [D] the second one, is even more [Db] powerful and more representative
of who we [N] are.
I couldn't be more [D] proud of the product we've come up with.
There's [Bb] many things that could dab.
[Am] The new album is called Damned If You Do.
Be careful who you
listen to, especially in the climate today politically [E] and socially.
There's so much going
on, so much misinformation [G] and so much deception.
You have to be very careful who you're listening
to.
[D]
[F]
[Gm] It is a quintessential metal church song in the [A] fact that it's a heavy pounding [F] riff by the
master [D] Kurt Vanderhoof.
Kurt's riffs are [C] just genius to me.
It's a very thrashy metal tune.
I
[D] guess I write stuff I want to hear.
[B] [D] This album compared to I [Am] think the last album is heavier.
It's a little darker, [Dm] a little meaner, a little more aggressive musically.
[D] The combination of
the five different personalities and backgrounds that we all come from put [E] together this chemistry
that [Dm] really can only be explained as metal church today.
[Am] [Dm]
[A] [D]
Touring for two years like we did [G] was a
reconnection [Db] of 25 [D] years absence from me with the fans.
Feeling all that [A] love for our music and the
shared experience of that [D] music.
[C] [F]
[D]
Kurt started sending me new riffs and I was like, oh man,
this [F] is awesome.
I know exactly [D] what to do to this.
It was an honor to get the call.
[Am] I was
real excited.
I love this band.
I work [Ab] with a lot of people and these [F] guys are the most genuine,
talented guys.
[D] Metal church
[C] [F] [G]
[A] should have been [D] in one of the big four.
I want people to remember us
for integrity.
It still has stayed true [Bb] to being metal church.
2019, [C] we're hoping that's going to
be a banner year for metal church.
