Michael Lemmo playing our Kevin Ryan Grand Cathedral Model at Norman's Rare Guitar chords
Start Jamming...
Hey everybody, Norm over here.
And I'm really proud to say that we are representing Kevin Ryan guitars.
I think he's just the most amazing builder ever.
And Amilcar over here is our rep for the company.
And we got Michael Lemo over here, who is one of the great players.
And Amilcar, can you tell us a little bit about these guitars?
Because they're such a knockout.
Yeah, this is our Cathedral model, which is actually our biggest size.
And the idea with this guitar was to make a larger size guitar, but actually that has a smaller bout.
And this bout is actually what's going to touch the player while you're playing it once you just hold it.
So we have a real large area behind here, so we get a lot of sound.
But the player actually feels like they're playing a relatively small guitar.
So we're hoping to get a balance of sort of the best of both worlds in terms of comfort and sound.
Now in this particular model, we have an old growth German spruce and a Brazilian rosewood back inside.
As well as these are our acoustic flutes on our bevel.
And we got lots of great inlay work here.
Some done by Tom Ellis and some done by Larry Robinson, as well as some done by Kevin Ryan Guitars.
It's a pretty special instrument and we're a real big fan of this one in particular.
So excited to hear how it sounds.

[N] 🎡 Beautiful.
That's the great Michael Lem over here with the great Kevin Ryan guitar.
What do you think about this guitar?
Unbelievable.
Just unbelievable.
Playing with the cutaway, super easy and I don't know, the intonation.
These holes right here just like, comes like right up at you and it's just like resonating in your hands the whole time.
And one thing I'm going to call you, that you were saying is the tops on these are super flat.
Yeah, we don't have a radius top actually on our guitars and one of the things you'll notice when you see,
you can see how severe the radius is on the back and the arch.
But also how flat the top is.
So part of that is Kevin's design that's really geared towards getting as much sound kind of coming off the top as possible.
And the acoustic flutes are exactly that.
They're a way for the player to hear some of the sound that's coming.
Instead of coming out forward, it's coming up a little bit more towards the player's ear.
So kind of gives you a little bit of a different idea of how it sounds
and you can enjoy it while you're playing a little bit differently than any other guitar, that's for sure.
Thanks for playing it.
Oh no, thank you for letting me play it.
Well, Amelkar, Michael Lemmo, Kevin Ryan guitars.
Look out for Kevin Ryan guitars.
Man, they are ridiculously good.
So all I can say is on a 1 to 10 scale, we're going to give them about a 30.
Come to Normston and check it out.
It's not even up to an 11 like Spinal Tap.
Yeah, we're going to 30 on this.
Alright, [A#] Norm's Drag Guitars, Amelkar, Michael Lemmo, me.
