What I'd like to sing for you tonight are a bunch of these bizarrely titled tunes that I wrote,
post-Monkey's actually, and I had a stack of albums that came out on a record company which
was Extant at the time, RCA, and over a period of time there I made, well I made probably nine LPs
and here's a couple of tunes that were off of some of the first ones that I did.
Tell me [C] just one more [D] time the reasons why you must [Em] believe
[C] Tell me once more [D] why you're sure you [G] don't believe [G] me
[C] Tell me [D] again but don't think that [G] you'll convince me
[C]
[D] [G] You said [C] before falling in [D] love again you'd [G] rather be [D]
[Em] dead
[C] Cause when someone breaks [D] your heart you [G] cry your [D]
[Em] eyes are red
[C] There's nothing so [D] hard about the life [G] that you've lived
[C]
[D] [Bm] [C] As far as I [A] can see there's [D] no reason for [G] my mind
[C] You're just one [A] step, [D] that's something I won't mind
[G] So you lose, [C] won't let you go, [D] you've nothing to show [G] for more [Em] beliefs
[G]
[C] And all this talk [D] about leaving is strictly [G] [D] bad [Em] news
[C] So you settle down [D] and say well if the [G] man loved you
[C]
[D]
[C] As far as I [A] can see [D] there's no reason [G] for my mind
[C] You're just one [A] step, [D] that's something I won't mind
So [G] you lose, [C] won't let you go, [D] you've nothing to show for [G] more [Em] beliefs
[C] And all this [D] talk about leaving is [G] strictly [Em] bad news
[C] So you settle down [D] and say well if the man [G] loved [F#m] you
[Em] [C] Oh you settle [D] down and say well if the man [G] loved [D]
[Em] you
[C] Yes you settle [D] down and stay [G] with me
