Michael W Smith - I Will Be Here For You - CYWL chords
Start Jamming...
[B] [G#m] Michael writes on [B] energy.
He has a lot of incredible ideas
that you can piece together
and make these unbelievable songs.
I mean, he'll have 3 song snippets,
and I'd go, man, I love that,
that's incredible, that's incredible,
why don't you put those together and make a song?
What is your [F#] statement?
What [B] is it you're trying to say?
I wrote that [G] honestly a month after [B] I wrote.
And sometimes it happens that way.
Usually a song is written, you get down and you work on it
and it happens, but there have been times
where they're actually written in [E] different pieces.
[B] And then obviously after I did this
[Bm] [E] the Genesis vibe came back again, the yes days.
[B] He's [F#] got a good sense of writing pop,
[E] but throwing in a lot of [C] artistic chords
and just some styles
and interjecting some really interesting melodies.
Musically the thing that's trippy about Michael's music,
coming from a guitar player's point of view,
just whack out a few chords.
How's that go again?
Michael, a lot of key changes, a lot of modulations.
His [F#] music's very progressive, very progressive.
The chord changes, the voicings,
the odd little meters that come and go,
the way he'll have a 7-bar phrase
as opposed to an 8-bar phrase that goes around.
This stuff is really unique for pop music.
The thing I would say that's most unique about Smitty of anything
[C] is he makes his stuff that's very [A] intricate sound very simple.
[C#m] [F#m] [Bm] Somewhere in the [Em] night
[A] Oh, somewhere in the [D] night
The only [E] thing that bothered me about it, if anything at all,
was [A] I kept thinking, does it sound too [C#m] simple?
Have all those changes [F#m] been done before?
And then I went [B] through
Somewhere in the night
Which I thought, that could [A] work.
I'll be standing [F#m] by
[B] I will be [A] here for you
[N] Gosh, it's really hard to pinpoint exactly, you know,
what makes a great song,
except that it's like when you get married,
when you find the right person,
it's like you know it when it's right.
And there's no way to explain what makes it right,
just this feeling that you have.
We have you on video, so we're going to see how [A] well you sing.
[B]
[A] [B] [A]
[B]
[E] When you feel the sunlight
[B] Fading to the cold [A] night
Don't know where to turn
You don't know where to turn
[E] And all the dreams you're dreaming
[B] Sing a new thing
[A] Let me [B] in your world
[A] Baby, let me [G#m] in your world
[C#] All [F#m] you need
[E] Is someone you [D] can call
[C#] Don't [F#m] be sad, [E] you're not alone
[A] I [C#m] will be here [F#m] for you
[Bm] [A]
[D] [A] I'll [C#m] shine a light [F#m] for you
[B] [Dm] I'll [A] be [F#m] standing by
[B] I will be here [A] for you
[D#] [A] [E] In this world of strangers
[B] Of old and friendly faces
[A] There's someone you [B] can trust
[A] Oh, there's someone you can trust
[E] I will be your shelter
[B] I'll give you my shoulder
[A] Reach out for [Bm] my love
[A] Just reach out for [G#m] my love
[C#] Your [F#m] name
[E] [A] In my heart, so dear
[C#] I [F#m] will be there
There's [E] nothing to fear
[A] I [C#m] will be here [F#m] for you
I can't hear you
[Bm]
[A] Somewhere [D] in the night
[A] I'll [C#m] shine a light [F#m] for you
