Hi, I'm Gary Braun [C] and I'm Mickey Braun and we're [D] Mickey and the motor cars and this [G] is the Texas music scene [Em] with Jack Ingram
[C] Been a [D] long time coming
[G] Keith Gaddis one of our favorite producers friend of the show and Mickey the motor cars one of our favorite bands friends of the [C] show
They made a record called long [G] time coming last [D] year.
It's a fantastic piece of work
Here's one of the songs off that [G] record called rodeo girl.
Enjoy
[D] _ [G] Yeah rodeo girl was a song that Gary and I wrote [C] together and he brought the idea to me
And he had [D] already had about half of it written in same deal.
He brought [G] me the verse in the course and
we just started kind [C] of batting ideas around and tweaking it a [D] little bit here and there and
wrote the last [F#] two [Em] verses together and
[C] it's just [D] a
[G] Song that him and I can kind of relate to as far as [Bm] we both grew up riding [C] horses all the time
I [D] rodeoed a little bit when I was in high [G] school and
[Em] All he did was ride horses out of that [C] same era when we were [D] teenagers.
[G] So _
For me I really enjoyed writing the song because it was it brought me [A] back to being younger and kind of a lot of the
[E] The dreams that I had at the time of if I was gonna stay
Riding [A] saddle bronc horses or whether I was gonna go to music or not
So for me it was fun to kind of create an imaginary
_ [A] Lifestyle if I had gone on to rodeo [E] and been good at it, so
That didn't happen.
So I went to music.
[A] I think from the standpoint of
When we do [E] write together when we go to perform the song later once the song is complete
[G] the harmonies and everything kind of fall [Em] into place a little naturally or because we
[C] We phrased it together [B] from the very beginning if [G] that makes sense that kind [D] of
[E] One nice thing about when we do write a song [D] together
Really any song or a songwriter you just kind of bounce ideas back [A] and forth, but you can't put that [E] theme
Yeah, you know so that like [F#] for us there for me for sure
There's definitely a [E] theme involved when I'm starting to write
I'm [A] already thinking from a all the way to see, you know, [E] ABC and D and [D] on down the alphabet
You know for [A] how you're gonna play it out and then tie [E] it together at the end from the beginning
