I remember the sound of piano kind of [C] wafting through the house.

memory.
I [Db] can't remember making the decision to want to be a musician.
I think it happened slowly because my older [Bb] brother was a musician.
And [Db] he used to play gigs all the time and we used to go as a family to watch him.
And then when I got to like the age 13, [B] 14, he started asking me to sing in his band.
So I [Bb] got confidence up [F] performing that way.
And then [Db] eventually he encouraged me to start writing songs.
So it all kind of happened gradually.
And then a few years into it, I was like, this is [A] my favorite thing in the world.
I want to be this when [Gm] I'm older.

[Am] _ _ My parents give me [G] good advice all the [Am] time.
_ They've probably given me the most [F] valuable advice over the years.
_ My dad, he's always _ encouraged [A] me to [Am] kind of, you know, to use my [A] fame with _
[Am] _ responsibility
and thought and [Dm] _ _ _
know that [D] my voice is being heard by a [B] lot of people.
So to [F] think about what you say.
And my mom [Bm] has always [Dm] encouraged me to follow my heart and just trust my instincts.
Both of them have [C] been really, really supportive over the years of just making sure [Em] _ I'm happy
and _ [Am] yeah, doing things the right way, I guess. _

_ [Em] _ This album, I've written a [Em] lot of songs [Am] about existential things and in the conflict that
I _ have from time to time about what I do.
And _ [F] _ I [G] don't know how hard it [D] is to be _ _ free and creative while _ [F] also kind of marketing
[G] yourself and promoting yourself.
It's like [Dm] these two different worlds that are supposed to mesh, but they don't.
And I have trouble [Gm] reconciling that.
[Dm] So there's a lot of [D] songs in my album that kind of deal with that and [Fm] deal with having
writer's block [Bb] and trying to [Am] work through _ _ that issue and trying to figure out what I
want to say.
[Em] My last two albums [A] before this one have [Am] been more kind of _ _ relationship [F] _ albums, I guess.
[G] Whereas this one is definitely much more [C] internal and inquisitive about the world around [G] me
and _ _ just, yeah, bigger [Am] questions, I guess.
