Thank you very much.
I'd like to say a big thank you to Big Pond for having us here tonight
and [E] also Nova for all [F#] your support to put this night on.
[E] It's great to be at [G] the forefront
of modern technology, spreading the music immediately.
Another big thank you to these
guys on stage with me, Terrid Masters, [N] Helena Redman, Phil Slater, Terpo Richmond, [B] Dave
Sarnes and Simon Russell-Brown.
[Bm] The song we're going to finish on for you guys tonight is
a song that I wrote when I took time off to write for this album On A Clear Night.
I spent
a lot of time on the left-hand side, northwest of Australia.
I just love it up there.
It's
just got such an amazing energy.
It's something about the red soil and just the bright blue
sky because you're so far away from the city.
At night, there's just so many stars in the
sky.
It's amazing.
This one night I was standing on the beach looking up at the stars and I
kind of
You know, you have those experiences where all of a sudden you get a little window
of perspective and I could kind of see how tiny I was underneath this massive sky and
underneath all these universes above me.
I realized that in the big scheme of things,
my life and everyone's life is just so tiny.
I thought it's a ridiculous waste of time
to be doing anything that I'm not happy with or anything that doesn't make me feel fulfilled
and passionate.
I decided to write this song to explain how I felt in that moment and that
was just how important it is to kind of take the steering wheel that's sitting in front
of you in your life and kind of go whatever direction you want to go because it's in your
control.
So this is a song called Steer.
Thank you guys so much.
You've been awesome tonight.
[E]
[B]
I stood falling off like clothing.
Tasted a roll in the outer sun.
See the lights above [A] you glow.
[E] [E] I went breathing [B] deep into your [A] lungs.
[B] It was always simple.
[A]
Not hitting hard.
You've [B] been pulling at the strings, [G#m] playing puppeteer for [A] kings and you've had enough.
[E] But the search [B] ends here.
When [A] the night is totally clear.
[C#m] And your heart is [B] fixed.
Now [F#m] you finally know [A] that you control where you go.
[E] You can steer.
So hold [B] this feeling like [E] a newborn.
All of freedom [B] surging through your [E]
veins.
You were [B]
opening [A] a new door.
[E] Soak it more than [B] a fire, the [A] red or rain.
[B] It was always simple.
[A]
Not hitting hard.
You've [B] been playing at a game.
[G#m] Called your number in your [A] name and you've stuffed it up.
But [E] the search ends [B] here.
[A] When the night is totally clear.
[B] And your [C#m] heart is [B] fixed.
So [F#m] now you finally know [A] that you control where you go.
[E] You can steer.
[B]
[F#m] And now you finally know that [A] you control where you go.
You [B] can [C#m] steer.
[E]
[B] Cause [B] you've been listening [E] for answers.
Over [B] the city screams and [E] all your dreams [A] go unheard.
[E]
[B] [E] But the search ends [B] here.
When [A] the night is totally clear.
And [C#m] your heart is [B] fixed.
So now you [F#m] finally know [A] that you control where you go.
You [E] can steer.
[B] [A] Yeah get out in that box and step into the [E] clear.
[B]
Cause now [A] you finally know you can steer.
[E] [A]
[E]
[N]
Thanks very much!
