Hey there.
Well, the date today is September 27th, 2012.
You've got to think about what
year it is.
Andy Williams just passed away two days ago on the 25th.
I thought, you know,
[E] how [Ab] appropriate, let's do one of his songs, the songs that he is noted for.
So, you know,
in the 60s, every once in a while I'd watch Andy Williams, but I was a [Bb] rocker.
You know,
we were rocking and rolling.
But I could always appreciate Andy Williams' voice.
I thought he was just a wonderful singer.
He seemed like just a great guy.
And I loved the lush arrangements.
So even though, you know, we were rocking out and all that good
stuff, but I could always appreciate his [Gm] talent.
[Ab] In Moon River, what a beautiful song.
Hank
Mancini.
So Andy, [Bb] you know, I guess is noted for it, but it was Breakfast at Tiffany's with Audrey
Hepburn actually doing the song.
So this arrangement, it's funny, the music is hard to find,
but this [Gb] arrangement [Ab] is very accessible, I think.
I think you'll have a good time with this.
Audiences love this song.
There's no doubt about it.
[Gm] It's a song that you [Bb] can play very freely,
as well as you've got to have some time with it.
[Gm] But, you know, you don't have [Ab] to play it as a
um-pa-pa-um kind of thing.
So you can play it with a lot of [C] expression.
[G] [A]
[Em] [C]
[G] [Em] [Cm]
[Dm] You have to think,
though.
[E] You still have to think.
But anyway, [Ab] so you can emote with it.
You know, you can play it
very tenderly or whatever.
Play it up, whatever you want to do.
I think it's a nice little
arrangement.
Again, it's very accessible.
I think a lot of guys will be able to do this with not too
practice.
So let's just get into it.
I've only played it through once here.
I've got two different
endings [A] on it.
I just played the second [Bb] ending for the song, but we do have another ending.
And so you can play it through twice.
Anyway, let's just get into it, learn the moves, and at
the very end, we'll talk a little bit more about what you can do to stretch out this song.
All right, let's get into it.
We're starting off right here with a [C] C major 7 chord.
That's your
stock [Em]
C major 7 chord.
[C] And what I'm going to do is this [Cm] hand is going to grab the fifth string
[C] 3 2 1.
[Ab] And then we're going to do a pick.
You're going to go [C] 1 and 2 [Em] and 3.
So right
here.
So it's 1 and 2 and 3.
There's our first measure.
Next, we're going to come up to [Bb] an A
minor 11.
[A] Looks like this.
Here we are on the seventh fret, 9.
Seventh fret, fourth [E] string.
[Gm]
And then we're going to grab a bass note here.
So we've [Bb] got these three, even though I'm fingering
this note here, I'm not going to initially [A] play it.
[Gm] So I've got [Ab] this fifth string 3 2 1.
[A]
[A] And then
I'm going to bar across here and grab those like that.
So it's 1 2 and 3 and.
So the first two
measures look like [Em] this.
[A]
Next, we're going to play this funny sounding chord.
It's a G [Gm] chord
[F] triad with an F bass.
It's an F major 7 with a sharp 11.
