Hey, what's up out there you guys Marty Schwartz here with guitar jams [D] calm
had a lot of requests for some more like 80s rock electric guitar and
[N] And so I thought I'd give you a nice little riff
To start working on right off the bat.
I just want to tell you the guitar is tuned down a whole step
So each string would be one whole step turned down.
So you'd have D
G C F
A and D.
All right, let me show you this riff
Alright, so we're tuned a whole step down, but I'm still just gonna refer everything, you know
Like the a string and the D string I'll just use the same note lingo there.
So we we got to do this
There's gonna be a lot of palm muting
[G]
Distortion [C] going I'm using the full tone OCD overdrive pedal
[G]
we're gonna start with a
Open a and you got to be able to use the pressure of your right palm to
stop the notes or let them ring out or
Give it a muted sound
You know, [F] you can hear different elements of my palm coming off the string to first.
Here's it completely [Ab] muted.
[G] I
Just relax my right palm
So I'm not touching it at all and you can hear the difference there
So
[C] We start with that then we're gonna be doing some double stops with our index and middle finger on the D and the G string
on the fourth [A] fret and
[Bb]
[G] [A]
So everything I did there [C] that wasn't this riff, but these are the like real gritty
Kind of like inverted power chords.
You can also call them [G] fourths
but really you could write one [Cm] of your own style [G] riffs using the open a and
Then the the D&G on the [A] second the fourth [C] the fifth [G] the seventh
[Gm] [G]
[E] [Db]
So that's where it's coming from so [G] we got
[B]
so I'm [G] I'm
Everything's the D and G string together.
We got open a and [Bb] then
[E]
[D] I'm just kind of pulling
the five to the [A] four
[G] [Bb] [E]
opener
[Ab] [Bb] Then [G] we're gonna go right back to to open a so we've got
[Bb] [G]
[F] [G]
[Bb]
[G]
So another pull off open [A] a so here's everything so far actually I'm gonna turn the distortion off so we can hear the articulation [G] here
[F]
[G] [Eb] [D] We're time real slow
[G]
[F] [E] [G]
[Bb] [G]
Now we're gonna add another of those little pull off things and it would look like this
[F] [Bb]
[F] [G]
[C]
So [Bb] we're almost at the [Am] middle finger slide from five to seven.
Let's do it again from this from the top of the [G] riff
[F] [G]
See that
[Bb] Finally
[C]
[G]
That's it real slow
[Bb]
[G] [Bb]
[Cm] [G]
[Bb]
Yeah, so after [C] you go it's gonna slide it's gonna [G] start over so we got
Just it starts exact same way again
[F] But
[G] then we're gonna take that same little cluster with our index finger and move it
[C]
[F] And cover the G and B string with our index finger and go
[C] [F] Middle finger is going to be on
that eighth fret
[C]
It's really it's like a it's like a D major chord
[F] [C]
Then we're gonna go
[Fm] Pull off from eight to seven twice
[Am] [C] then the G
[Ab] So, let's do it up from the top real [G] slow
[E] [G]
[Fm] [C]
[G]
[C]
[G] [Bb]
[Gm]
[G] [F] [G]
[Fm] [C]
