Hi, and welcome to another video by VA music ministry
Vincent Alexander here the founder and president of VA music ministry and basically what we're gonna do
I know it's been a minute since y'all seen me.
I've been behind the scenes.
I've been working really hard
We got a lot of new things coming up
Don't worry Cartwright and other musicians.
They'll be back
To actually teach and do stuff and I'm gonna be once again behind the scenes
But I'm gonna come out with a series of videos
Just kind of give us some stuff that I have and I want to give to you this clip is or this video
We're gonna be talking about
movie music movie clips and stuff the stuff that is actually worship so
Before we get into the you know to the video and the lesson once again, you know
Like always we've been starting to do we want to pray
So father [Gb] God would come right now just [Ab] saying thank you for all that you've done
[Gb] You've been so good to [Fm] us you ask that you just [Ebm] continue to keep us [Db] lead us and guide us
Father [Cm] God, I ask that you give me the expertise the knowledge to teach [Db] your people father God
[Ebm] Be able to enhance [Fm] their playing father.
God.
I thank you for giving me the [Gb] gift of playing
[Fm] I thank you for allowing me to be [B] able to [Ebm] teach right now.
I just want to [Db] say thank you Christ Jesus name.
I'm free
[Ab] All [Gb] [Ab] [Gb]
[Db] right, so
What we have here.
We're gonna take a [N] simple simple
Song that I actually heard and you probably don't think it's simple
But it's very simple and what I've learned me and Cartwright actually went to
Several years ago.
We went to a workshop and Marcus Cole was a guest and we played for him and stuff
And he taught me something.
He basically taught me that
Take out the words of songs whether it be gospel or whatever and listen to the music and you'll be able to tell if
It's worship music or not
[Db] [Ebm] [Db] [Gb]
[Db] So just [N] take out take out the words and listen
So what I've been able to do I've been able to just listen to different songs and the song we're gonna go over today is pure
imagination and the Willy Wonka song
Famous movie a lot of people seen it and you know, y'all know this song pure imagination
You have heard it and the thing about it is take out the words listen to it.
It's actually worship music
It's very got a nice worship feel
Got a little bit of a jazz touch to it.
So it's something that you can definitely
Incorporate into your playing as long now you can't do this at every church some church
You know if the pastor recognizes might get mad some people will appreciate it
Some people won't so you got to be careful be mindful of where you're at and where you're playing it
So [Db] we're gonna be in the key of D flat
D flat [Eb] is the one E flat is the [F] two
F is the [Gb] three
G flat is the [Ab] four a flat is the [Bb] five
B flat is a [C] six C is a [Db] seven back at D flat with the one
[Gb] [Db] If you don't [Abm] know anything about the [Eb] numbering system
I [G] recommend you to go on my website or look it up YouTube it but going you can go on my website and
Look at the strictly for beginners DVD.
It actually teaches about the number system
It is so universal to help [Ab] you out and plan it allows you to play in every key faster
By knowing the number system.
It's gonna help you out tremendously.
So
getting started so
[Gb] [Ab] [Eb]
[Gbm] All right, [Eb] so what we're gonna do I'm gonna go ahead and play this song and you realize this is nothing that the first part
is nothing but a [Ab] two [N] five one and
Then it walks it up to the two to the three
Simple watch this
[Db]
[Ab] [Db] Simple [Ab]
[Db] [Eb]
[Fm]
real [G] simple.
Let's learn [Eb] that real quick.
I
Got E flat B flat E flat on my left hand
My right hand.
I'm just playing the melody line, which is a C sharp major D flat major chord
[Db] D flat [Ab] F a [Db] flat
[Ab]
[Db] [Ab] So on my five I got a flat E flat a flat
My right hand is D flat F a [Db] flat Sorry
[Ab] [Db] [Ab]
And then we're gonna go to the one
And on the one I get D flat a flat D flat.
My right hand is E flat a flat and C
So a flat major on my right hand
[Db] [Ab] And I'm gonna go back and forth
[Db] Between [Ab] the a flat [Db] major and the D flat major F a flat D flat
[Ab] So
[Db] [Ab]
Now I'll go to the two and I'm gonna do the same thing
[Eb] So I'm still gonna just go back [Ab] and forth
[Db] [Ab] [Db]
[Fm] And then when I go to that three I
Want to play that a flat major E flat a flat C
Then hit that a flat so [Ab] it's like this
[Db]
[Eb] And [Fm]
on that three I get [Db] F and D flat
[Fm]
So let's do it [Db] again [Eb] so
[Db]
[Eb] [Fm]
[Db] [Ebm]
So
So
[Db] [Ab]
Just playing the melody [Db] line D [Eb] flat E [Db] flat F [F] [Ebm] so
[Db] that's on the tube
[Eb]
So when I hit that
I'm gonna roll that [Db] F.
So the E flat [Eb] D flat E flat and I'm gonna roll the E flat [E] to the [Bbm] E to the F
[Eb] And my left hand is E flat B flat E flat that power chord in [Ebm] your left hand
And then I come over here [Db] and basically play a cluster a little bit
Just kind of well not even really cluster
I'm just basically taking a chord and really playing with my two hands basic two hand chord
E [Ebm] flat G flat my right [Ab] hand is [Ebm] a flat B [Bbm] flat D flat and
So you basically just playing the E flat minor 9 I
Really I guess
[Db] You know so one two three four five
[Eb] Sorry [Ebm] one two three four [B] five [Db] six [Ebm] seven one so
[Bbm]
So I guess because I added [Ebm] a flat [Db] you can make it you know a minor 11
But I'm not playing it like it I'm [Ebm] with the melody [Gb] up top [Db] so
There's [Eb] [Fm]
[Db] [Ebm]
[Ab]
[Abm] different chords you [F] can do [Cm] so
[Gb] [Fm] [Gb]
[Ab] [Db] [Fm]
[Gb] [Dm] [Fm]
[Gb] [Eb] [Db]
[Gb] [Ab] [Db]
[Gb] [Ab] [Bbm]
[Ebm] [Gb] [Fm]
[Db] [Ab] [Db]
[Gb] [Bb] [N]

_ _ _ _ [Db] _ _ _ [Eb] _

_ _ I
Got E flat B flat E flat on my left hand

I'm just playing the melody line, which is a C sharp major D flat major chord

_ [Db] _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ [Eb] _ _ _ [Fm] _
_ _ _ _ [Db] _ _ [Ebm] _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ So _ _
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
So
[Db] _ _ _ [Ab] _ _ _
Just playing the melody [Db] line D [Eb] flat E [Db] flat F [F] _ _ [Ebm] so _ _ _
_ [Db] that's on the tube
[Eb] _ _ _ _
So when I hit that _ _ _
I'm gonna roll that [Db] F.
So the E flat [Eb] D flat E flat and I'm gonna roll the E flat [E] to the [Bbm] E to the F
[Eb] _ _ _ And my left hand is E flat B flat E flat that power chord in [Ebm] your left hand
_ And then I come over here [Db] and basically play a cluster a little bit

I'm just basically taking a chord and really playing with my two hands basic two hand chord
E [Ebm] flat G flat my right [Ab] hand is [Ebm] a flat B [Bbm] flat D flat _ and
_ So _ _ _ you basically just playing the E flat minor 9 _ _ I
_ _ _ Really I guess
_ [Db] You know so one two three four _ five
[Eb] Sorry [Ebm] one two three four [B] five [Db] six [Ebm] seven one _ _ _ so
_ _ _ [Bbm] _ _
So _ _ _ _ I guess because I added [Ebm] a flat _ _ [Db] you can make it you know a minor 11 _ _ _
