Hey, this is Mark.
I'm the music and arts minister at Point Harbor Community Church
And wanted to just share this song that I know much of the church still does even though it's a few years old
called moving forward and
It's it is quite involved as a song and you know, it's typically done on acoustic type guitar
But I wanted to share this because I think a lot of people want to learn it
But maybe they're afraid that it's a little bit complex.
It is a tiny bit complex
But I think you can learn it.
And so let's just go through
Move through these chords here.
It starts out with a C or C formation
But what you do is instead of playing it here at C
Just slide it up a whole step and that's that intro chord that they play and it sounds like that that
[E] You just miss the top don't play the top note in it, even though I hold it down
It's really [A] a G with a 6 and a 9th in it
And then you go to this a for what a moment.
[E] It's like an a 9 chord
Okay, then you go to [D#] the G 7th and [E] it's like it has it has a has an E sort of in it as well
It's G 7 over E
[G] So you play those chords as you know [E] throughout?
The verses the other chords involved [F#m] when you get to I'm here to declare to you
[A]
That G flat minor with a 9th at the bottom.
My path is [G] over
Got a G there and [A] you you go back to the a
[E] [A] things I made new
My bet my things are [B] made new
[A] That G [Em] flat minor 9th [F#m] surrender my life
[A] Okay, G flat minor [G] 9th moving go back to the G moving [D] forward
And this is where you start to play the D
it's a D [E] E
[A] a
[E] E
[D] D
[A] And [E] yeah, just take that bottom note and hit an E there for the word.
Yes
[D] so you
[E] make
[D] all things new [F#m] yes, you
may
full bar [A] chord for the G flat I
[D] [E] Will
[D] Follow you
[E] forward
back to the a9 with the E and
You know the rest [N] is just I mean the ending of the song where you you know
The band ramps it up and all so I'm gonna just go through this song.
There's a couple of other slides
Down here
where it's like you do this [A] so I I
Tried recording this before and I forgot to put the slides in so because it just it's like this
[D] [A] so you're right here at the fourth fret on the
The third note from the top [F#m] and the second up [F#] from the bottom.
So the first [D] slide
[C#m] And you go to the second fret here and play the same two strings
again, just
[D#] so
[C#m]
All [Em] right, then you get to the E
[E] That minor chord there and you slide all the way up here really to an a [G] I'm sorry G
[F#]
So to an F sharp, so it's like a G here.
So it's like
[E]
All right.
This song is pretty involved.
So so here here are the just the slides on that [A] part.
It's just
[D] [A] [E]
[A] [D] [E]
So again, those are the notes
[F#] All right, so I'm gonna just try to play through this
I just want to see I like this guitar because it kind of shows exactly where we are
And I hope that helps and you guys learning these songs, so I'm just gonna play I'm not that great at it
But I'm just gonna play through it and just show you the basics of how it would sort of flow if you were playing it
In your worship [G#] set.
So, let's see.
Let's start out.
[D#] Well with that G [F#] with the 6th and a 9th.
Here we go
[E]
[D]
[E]
[Bm] [E]
[A]
[E] [A]
[D] [E]
[A] [D]
[A] [E] You have [A] brought me to
[D] Such a [A] freedom
I
[E] have found in [A] you
[D] You're the [E] healer
[Em] [F#] Who makes [A] all things new?
[D]
[Em] [E]
[A] Not going by
[D] [E] Moving [G] ahead
Here [F#m] to declare to you
[G] my path to that G back to [E] the a9
Things
[Bm] Bring [F#m] them by
G flat [G] to the G
and [D] slides
[A#] [Em] [E] [D]
[F#m] [E] To an E
Okay, [A] you start over you
[D] [A] [Em] With [E] all power in your hand [D] you [E] have given me a second [A] chance
[D] [E]
[Am] Yeah, [D] [A] yeah, [Em]
yeah
[E] [C#]
[A] I'm not going back
[D] Moving [E] ahead
[Em] Here [F#m] to declare to you
[G] My path is over [A] you
things may [E] new
[F#m] Spend in my life
[G] the G
And you [D] start the slides
[E] [A]
[D] [A] [F#m]
[B] [D] [E]
[D] [E]
Okay, so that's that ending part which [D] is you?
[E] make
[A] all things
[F#m]
[A] Many all things new [D] I
[E] Will follow [D] you
[A]
You [E] [D] just know the band kind of plays it out from there
But I recommend highly recommend not using a pick on [E] this song because it's you know
It's very soft that makes it very intimate and it has sort of a drawing effect
You know special people going through things so whatever and you play this but just use your fingers
You know just strum it with your fingers.
Let it be soft and just let it do its let it let it do its thing
And I hope that helps and God [C#] bless
