Hey, [Gb] what's up you [G] guys?
Marty Schwartz here with [N] GuitarJams.com.
Gonna give you a nice little blues lesson.
It's actually probably the most famous blues riff of all time.
So I'm gonna bring it to you right now.
Let you know real quick, I have three really killer signature style blues lessons.
It's a Stevie Ray Vaughan, a BB King, and an Eric Clapton style lesson.
You can click the link below and it's this little module that I created that I think
you'll really dig.
So click down there for even more lessons.
I'm gonna teach you this riff right now.
Here we go.
Alright, let's learn this little riff.
Basically we're just using the A minor pentatonic [Abm] scale.
We're basically [A] doing an A blues.
[D] [Em] [Am] [Em] [A]
[Em] [D] [A]
[N] We're gonna take our ring finger on the root right here.
It's the seventh fret of the D.
[A] We're gonna hit that note.
But then [B] you're gonna see my ring finger.
I'm gonna roll it over and play the seventh [Bb] fret of the G and [D] the B.
And you can look at my finger how [B] I still actually kind of feel the tip of my finger
on [D] that root note.
That's kind of the [G] concept.
[A] [D]
[C] [D] Then
[A] I go [D] back to the root.
So it's
[A] then [B] that same double cluster on the G and B but on the fifth fret with my index
[C] finger back [A] to the root.
Check it out.
[D] [Am]
[D] [A]
[C] [A] [D] [Am]
[D]
[Am] [Bb]
[D] [Am] [B]
[D] [Am]
[Bb] [D] [Am]
[B]
[Am] [N] And people ask all the time and I answer all the time about the looper pedal that I use.
It's a Boss RC2.
Anyway what you can do is if it's, you know, when you click down on your loop pedal it's
the start and stop of the recording, the loop.
So sometimes it's a good idea if you're not good at your timing you can just do a click down.
Now I'm in a record mode but I have a beat so I'm not worried about hitting the riff right.
I've already got my beat now [D] looped.
[Am] [B]
[D] [Am] [Bm]
[D] [Am] [Bm]
Then I have [D] an [Am] effect on my line 6 [Bm] M9 pedal that just gives me a bass.
[Am] [A]
[D] [Am] [A]
[D] [Am] [A]
Now I have [D] a [Am] jam [A] track.
I can practice my A blues.
[D]
[Am] So
[A] [Eb]
[A] [D]
[A] [Am]
[A] [D]
[Am] [A]
[D] [A] [Am]

So you know you can, you know, I just wanted to give you a little breakdown on that.
So once again here's the [A] riff.
[D] [Am] [D]
[Am] [Bm]
[D] [Am] And you can look at the economy of my left hand here.
I'm just kind [B] of cupping the strings and I'm using kind of the tips of my fingers [D] and [Am] now
[D]
[Am] [Bm]
there's [Eb] variations [D] on the lick too.
So you can hear the [Am]
[D] [Am] [D] [A]
variation.
As well as using these concepts when you're [Am] soloing.
[D]
[Am] [A]
[D] [A]
[D] [Am] [G] [D] [Am]
[D] [A] [D] [A]
[D] [Am]
[D] You [A] have a [N] lot of juicy stuff right there.
But anyway that's one of the most popular blues riffs of all time.
All right hope you enjoyed that.
