Hello, welcome again.
Today in this short tutorial let us take a look at
Rupak Thaal of
Hindustani music and
Trishra Jathi Triputa Thaalam in Carnatic music
It is also called Mishra Chaapu or just Triputa Thaalam for short.
Okay
I'm going to explain how to create your own melodies using this Thaal actually
This is also called another name for rhythmic cycle in Indian classical music is Thaal, okay
So Rupak Thaal or Mishra Chaapu consists of seven beats
one two three four five six seven seven beats
Then it goes back to one two three four five six seven all of the seven beats have equal duration
The feel of
Triputa Thaal or Rupak comes
[G] by giving stress on first beat
Then fourth beat and sixth beat.
It is how it this is how it goes, okay
one two three four five six seven
So that one we give a stress, but all of the beats have equal duration
One two three four five six seven that is how you count, okay
[N] There is another way of counting once you are familiar with
counting each beat
So the other way is
Takita Takadhimi
So once you are familiar with this pattern what you do is you don't clap for each and every beat so first
You are going to clap on the one two three
Okay, you just hold one two three four five six seven one two three
four five six seven
So in Hindustani music this is counted as
tin tin tin
tin tin tin tin tin
one two three four five six seven one two three four five six seven it's actually
one two three four five six seven if you don't use
hand waves and all it is just
One two three four five six seven okay, so but the key is to give stress on
beat number one
four and six
So if you increase the speed I am going to now sing two notes per beat
So far we did Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi
Takita Takadhimi
So even though I am clapping just three times, but the first clap I am holding for three beats Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi
Now I am going to sing two notes per beat Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi
That is Rupak Tal Okay
There are several songs.
It's a very popular rhythmic cycle in both
Carnatic music and Hindustani music
Several songs are in this film songs also in this following this rhythmic pattern
I'm going to explain how to create your own melodies
I'm going to use this rhythmic cycle in that.
Okay
Thanks for watching and see you in the next video
So you can clap and count with me for a practice if you want
I'm going to count one two three and then we start okay
one two three [G] Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi
Now this time
Not counting all the beats.
Okay.
I'm going to clap only three times one for
First three beats then for next two beats one clap each
one two three four five six seven Takita [N] Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi Okay now Second speed
I'm going to count you know one full cycle then we're going to go
One two three four five six seven Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi Takita Takadhimi
