Okay, so busy works beats already has a tutorial on music theory you can go watch it is 26 minutes long
It's a PowerPoint and it goes over stuff that you don't even need if you want a more straightforward video on how to make trap music music theory
Then watch this video.
So
The first scale we're gonna call it the go to scale.
It's a traditional minor scale.
So to do it
Here's a trick.
So go to your sampler channel
Turn on ghost channels
Click the arrow helpers goes channels.
Click a and click all the white keys
There you go.
There's your traditional minor.
Here's your root note this note right here.
That's
Your root note and what that means is that's where your 808 is gonna be at majority of the time
so in this case my 808 would be at the at a and
This pattern we came up with here is universal.
So I said I want to be in the key a
You can move it anywhere so if I move this a to D is gonna be in the key of D now it's gonna
apply
Anywhere you can move anywhere.
It's still gonna be the same and this is a go to
Traditional scale so if you're having a beat block one day and you don't know what notes to click use this scale
So I have a generic [C#] piano
[D#] And all you got to do when you turn on those channels.
Just make sure whatever you have highlighted
[C#] is
That's the notes you play.
So right here.
We can't play the note D F G or a sharp or C
Because that's doesn't apply to the scale [A] if you play those notes.
It's gonna sound weird.
So
Just an [C#] example, [E]
[D#m] [C#m]
[G#] [C#m] you know, just like that.
That's a generic example
[D#m] So [F#m] [C#m] [B]
[A] [D#m] [F#m] [C#m]
[B] [N] yeah, the next one
We're gonna call it the Lex Luger scale Lex Luger
outdated no one
If you remember him
But he's the one who utilized this scale and made it popular and sizzle stole it and
Everybody uses it.
So take your traditional minor.
So same thing
Click all the white keys starting at a but this time take the second note
so in this case B drag it down one, there you go and
I'll give you a example
This is when
this is an example of
How 808 mafia does that chromatic raise so let's drag it I want it to be in the key [C#] of a we're gonna do it
in C sharp my favorite and
Basically, it's where they went
It
[D] [C#]
[D] [E] [C#]
did that and then you know, they had that fast running piano [A] same thing
[C#] [F#]
[C#]
[F#m] [C#]
[F#]
[C#] [D] [C#]
[F#m] [G#] [C#]
[D] [E]
[D] [C#]
[D] [C#]
[D] [C#]
[D] [C#]
[D] [E]
[C#] [C] You
So that's just an example of that scale and how it's used no one really makes that time abusing no more but
Just to show you that that's trap music scales.
The last one is the Metro booming scale
That creepy Dracula stuff used to make it.
You don't really make it that much now
Take your traditional minor all white keys in the key of a
Now take the seventh one raise it up and basically
You would get this sound here.
I'm using stock VSTs, by the way, except for Nexus.
So
Again, you don't want in the key of a you want it in the key of C You take
You gotta do instead of doing that raise that
Lex Luger would do
How it went
[C#] It did a drop that's that was the secret to the creepiness so
Instead of going up when it went down one.
So notice how [E] that's B.
You can use that there, too
Just to show you
It's called octave.
So this B and this piece is same, but this one's higher than that one.
So
if you want to
Use more octaves just do that.
Okay, and
basically, it's this type of music where
[A]
[D]
[C]
[D] [B]
[A#]
[N]
And then this is where you would get your print side chain bass because you watch that razor tutorial or you can
Get [C] a different pad
And get creepy
[Cm]
[B]
[G#] [Cm]
[B] [G#]
[G] [Cm]
[B] [G#m]
[G]
[Cm] Well,
[B] [G#m]
[A] [B]
that's it that's that's the three scales you need the
View just having to be black and you don't know which one to use
Just use the traditional minor scale.
Once again, there's three times so you should already get it start at a click all the white keys
That's basically just so when you click notes in the piano roll.
They're the right notes and they're not
Terrible it doesn't sound weird
[N]
It's a PowerPoint and it goes over stuff that you don't even need if you want a more straightforward video on how to make trap music music theory
