From Trinity [Dbm] Music City, welcome to the [B] GMA Gospel Music Hall of Fame induction [A] ceremony.
[E] [Dbm]
[B]
[A] [E]
Great, it's an [B] awesome honor to be here tonight.
You know, my band is known for our live shows, but it wasn't that long ago that a Christian music concert
wasn't much more than a sound system and maybe a few lights.
Then came along Mylon Le Fevre, ushering a new generation of music,
adding the visual drama of rock and roll to the music of his faith.
And in the process, he has changed both the sight and sound of gospel music.
See what I mean.
[Bb]
If I were to tell you, you wouldn't even believe it.
Indeed, Mylon Le Fevre's life story [Ab] has to be real.
No [F] one could dream this up.
Born into a [A] gospel singing [C] family, [G] Mylon wrote his first song at [F] age 17.
That song was recorded by Elvis Presley.
Without him, I could do [C]
nothing.
Within a year, over 100 artists had recorded Mylon's songs, and the royalty checks were rolling in.
By age 19, he had written, produced, and recorded his first solo album.
[Bb] But his music was too [F] contemporary for the gospel field.
And by age 25, he had formed the band that later became the Atlanta Rhythm [Em] Section.
[D] [G] Mylon was accepted and [B] befriended by the [Bm] biggest names in rock and roll, [G] from Eric Clapton [E] to [D] George Harrison.
Unfortunately, [G] he was also living the [A] rock and roll [Bm] lifestyle to the hilt.
[Gm] He became addicted to cocaine and [G] eventually to heroin.
I [C] was strung out, [Dm] and I didn't know how [C] to get out.
[Gm] A near-fatal overdose scared [Bb] him enough to ask God for help.
And in 1980, he rededicated his life to Christ at a Second Chapter [Gm] of Acts concert.
Mylon [Eb] was about to begin the second chapter of his own [D] life.
After years as a high-flying [F] rocker, he became a [Gm] church janitor while attending Bible school.
Eventually, [Ebm] Mylon turned [D] his talents to Christian rock, a genre he and Broken Heart would come to define in the 1980s.
[Bb] Mylon was honored with a Grammy and two [C] Dove Awards, and sold another million records.
He and Broken [Gm] Heart led over 200,000 [Eb] people to a decision for Christ.
[D] Over the course of [Bb] his career, Mylon has written nearly [C] 600 songs [Bbm] and [F] recorded 50 [Gm] albums.
But those early years of abuse took [F] a serious toll.
In [G] 1989, [F] Mylon suffered a heart [Gm] attack.
Last night I had a dream, [Bb] and I heard the angels [C] singing, give Him praise now.
After his recovery, [Gm] Mylon turned to preaching and teaching the gospel.
[Bb] And that is his mission to this day.
He and his wife, Christi, now minister together [N] around the world.
Joined by the Newsboys and his mother, 1977 Hall of Fame inductee, Eva [G] Mae LeFevre, welcome Mylon LeFevre.
[D] [G]
[C] [G]
Without Him, [D] I'd be dying.
And without Him, I'd be [G]
enslaved.
And without Him, my life would [C] be hopeless.
[A] But with Jesus,
[D] thank God, [G] I'm saved.
Come on, y'all know this, sing it with me.
Jesus, oh Jesus, do [D] you know Him [D] today?
Please, Lord, [G] turn Him away.
[C] Jesus, oh [G]
[Em] Jesus, [G] without Him, [D] I'd lost [G] my good feet.
But with Jesus, [D] thank God, I'm saved.
[Am]
[G] Hallelujah, people.
I
[D]
[G] take a trip, [C] and good old gospel [G] ship.
I am going far [D] beyond the sky.
I'll shout and sing, [C] till all the [G] heavens be in my sight.
In heaven, [E] in heaven, let's all go around.
[F] [G]
I have good news to bring.
[C] That is why [G] I say, hold my joy.
You are like [D] the ship.
[G] When my ship comes in, I'm [C] going to leave this world [G] unseen.
I'm going to sail [D]
it through the [F] air.
[G]
I'm going to take a trip, [C] on that good old [G] gospel ship.
I'm going [D] to fly above the sky.
[G] I'm going to shout and sing, [C] till all the [G] heavens ring.
I have a feeling, it's been [D] this whole [F] world.
I'm [G] going to sail it through the air.
[C] I'm going to take a trip, on that good old [G]
gospel ship.
I'm
[Gm] [D]
[G] going to shout and sing, [C] till all the [G]
heavens ring.
[D]
[F] [G]

He's [F] my only [G] friend, He's [F] my only friend.
