[Fm]
Many [Eb] ask [Bbm] for something honest, loving [Bb] heart with someone new.
And [Fm] love, [Cm] [D] only thing [Bbm] that's promised [D] to my heart.
The only [Bb] thing that's hard [C] to embrace.
[Db] Only thing that make life worth [Cm] living.
[A] Seems [Fm] love is here to stay.
[Cm] [Gbm] Seems love [Eb] is here to [Fm] stay.
[Eb] My name is India [C] Babbitt-Hort.
I am a creative, very, very [Eb] creative person.
It's kind of funny because out [F] of that creativity from [Eb] the beginning when I was a kid,
for years I [C] actually was very, very embarrassed about [Eb] having an odd name like India [Fm] and Dabb and Hort.
I've [G] always kind of cheered for the underdog in some respects because it's like the odd ball,
[Ab] or the odd man or woman out coming [Dm] from bases in music, [Eb] dance, music studies, [E] athletics.
Kind of one of these kids that [Cm] just really needed to get involved in anything [Dm] possible to try to stay out of trouble,
[Eb] which I think I did a pretty decent job [C] of that.
Through that it's actually like [Ab] built me in my own kind of like bubble or [Dm] my own head space about like how I [Eb] approach life.
[Cm] I'm just a [C] person that loves to create [Ab] and be in creative situations with people [F] that like to do that too.
New York [Eb] City [F] really experienced a lot of pain and suffering with the situations [Eb] with 9-11.
I also had a residence [E] down in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Those two have really [Ebm] helped to kind of shape [Gb] and form my perspective on life in such a [Eb] unique way.
I [B] literally had to [Gb] shut down my creative process and my [E] living, my lifestyle, [Ebm] and basically start over.
[G] There's a sense [Gbm] of loss that sometimes can [C] also be like a very [B] inspirational thing.
Sometimes those trying [Gb] experiences, I tend to get a lot of inspiration from that, a lot of clarity.
Prioritizing those types of things and really [Ebm] building bridges, not burning [Gb] bridges.
Those are the things that I'm definitely much more in touch [Bm] with that I've been trying to aspire [Ebm] to.
Expressing that [Gb] through music.
Creatively, those types of situations really kind of helped me to [Ebm] be able to bring my [Gb] creative level to where I'd like it to be.
[G] My creative process goes in several different directions.
It really depends on who I'm collaborating with [C] or if I'm doing things personally.
My favorite thing to do is actually [G] collaborate with people.
I absolutely [C] love that.
So right now I'm doing a lot of collaborating with people via cypher [Eb] space, [Ab] sending tracks back and forth.
Fortunately, because I'm [G] traveling all the time, I can actually go and get [Gb] with them and record a track.
I'm [Ab] much more of a rhythmic person.
Rhythm based in [G] drums are like my [C] backbone, how a lot of times how I like to create.
If it's done from scratch, we'll [Ab] just like completely start [G] off the bone.
Just bring it on up to whatever the song's going to eventually evolve to be.
For those of you that don't know, I rejoined forces with my former band members, the Brand New Heavies.
My strongest assets for sure would be songwriter, melody, [C] arrangement.
It really [G] depends on what the process is.
I can kind of go any direction.
Someone has an idea about a track and they give me the basics of [C] it and I can take it and [Ebm] create.
Like I said, I have a very vivid imagination.
I [D] really apply everything to life, how you're in the flow of things.
My approach to actually [Am] singing, it's almost not really [Ebm] like acting, but it's almost like just expressing [G] an emotion.
We as performers, [C] we have certain duties that we are responsible to do as [D] far as sharing [Ab] music and [Abm] sharing emotion with people.
[G]
So many different people have come up to me [Cm] and said, hey, that [Em] song got me through this, [G] that got me through college.
[Ab] I almost committed suicide, I almost did [G] this, and that helped to take me over.
When I'm actually [C] performing or doing something vocally, I really like to [Ab] be 100% in the moment,
to [G] be able to have clarity with the audience and [Cm] us having this type of [Am] response [A] and being able to [Ab] emote a feeling.
[G] And it's really important, I think, to [C] do that.
It's a blessing that I [G] have the opportunity to be able to do it and that this is my career [Ab] and that I love it so much
and I love being able to share it with people.
[Gm] Like in anything in life, nothing's perfect.
[C] I go off key [Gb] sometimes.
It's like [Am] a craft that you continuously [Ab]
try to make better.
[G] Just like anything, it's like an instrument.
I'm just a human instrument.
[D] I approach it that way.
[Em] [N] I want to share with everybody a situation that is affecting so many women right now.
Initially it was affecting more women of [E] color, but now it's sort of branching out to so many other types of women from different backgrounds.
The topic is uterine fibroids.
And uterine fibroids are basically these tumors that are affecting women, affecting their health, affecting [N] their ability to have children.
There's been a lot of questions about the [E] medical situations that we're dealing with, the doctors.
I mean, is it necessary for you to take all [Em] these medicines?
A lot of these doctors, they basically tell a woman that they [N] need to cut out their uterus.
That is absolutely the absolute wrong way to actually deal with this particular [E] condition.
These symptoms of having uterine fibroids, they can be very, very extreme.
Your body basically just does not function.
There's a lot of blood loss.
[N] I actually will share with you that I actually did suffer with that condition.
Just recently, I actually dealt with [Bb] that condition.
It took about [E] 10 years to actually find a [A] doctor that would want to absolutely [E] preserve the uterus.
I encourage any woman at this point in time, please, please take your time.
Find a great doctor that [N] will want to preserve your uterus.
I was embarrassed about it for a really, really long [E] time.
You see some pictures [A] of me from, like, back in the day, like about [N] 10, 11 years ago, and I look a little bit swollen.
The big part, because as a result of that particular condition.
So please don't take your health lightly.
I'm on a completely amazing page to recovery.
And life is just showing me a whole other side of what it can be like.
But take care of yourself.
Take care of your body.
And always take care of who you are and deal with that.
[Bb]
Peace.
[Eb] [Bbm]
[Bb]
[F] [Cm] [D]
[Gb] [C] [D] [Bbm]
[C] [Db]
[Cm] [Dbm] Seems [Fm] love is.
[Cm] [D] Love [Eb] is.
[Cm] [Dm] I [Fm]
remember first time.
[C] That's [F] my
[C] memory [Cm] of that [F] day.
[Cm] Delicate touch.
[A] Long, [C]
long.
[G] [Ab] Reset.
[Bbm]
[C] And I tremble [Fm] beneath.
[Cm] Your.
[A] As I.
