So I've certainly been out traveling [Bm] America with my music for many, many years
[A] And I just think that the new country, [D] this is new because it's new on the radio
Prior to this, my market was always in [Em] college radio stations
and always did well there, but [G] commercial radio didn't have any time for me
and now they do, and Steve Earle the same way
So it's a new beginning kind of for me
I've always called my music folkabilly because I feel like it's a great blend of
you take a little bit of Woody Guthrie and you take a whole lot of Loretta Lynn
who I consider to be the real voice of women's country music
She brought country music out of the Dark Ages for women
And you put those two things together, folk and country
and come up with the folkabilly sound
A little bit of hillbilly, a little bit of folk
To me, [F#] I don't think it's ever going to have a real [B] mass audience

[D#] What's special about the [D] Lone Star State, do you think, [G] in your musical makeup?
Well, I think we've had a lot of influences from Texas
I know that there are so many musicians who've come out of Texas
But Chancock, Jimmy Gilmore, very special
They're from West Texas, Lyle's from East Texas
Which gets you more into the South and Southern attitudes
And I'm from [G] Central West
And Texas has not a whole lot to look at
So I think you learn from a very early age on
that you have to use your imagination or go crazy
So creativity is abundant there
Buddy Holly came from Lubbock
I just think there are a lot of us who have gone into music and gone into the arts
Do you mean it's a boring place?
Well, I didn't want to say that, but it is sort of a boring place, Texas is
There's really not a whole lot to do there
I hear a lot from Texans about getting into a Lone Star state of mind
Can you explain to me how you go about that?
Well, I think the easiest way to do it is to go out
and get yourself a six-pack of Lone Star beer
or whatever kind of beer you can find This one?
Guinness, whatever you can find, go out and buy some

_ And it's the voice [F#] of hope
It's the voice of peace
It's [D#] the voice [C#] of everyone _ _
[F#] _ _ _ [F#] Both you and Lyle Lovett are from Texas
_ I just think there are a lot of us who have gone into music and gone into the arts
_ _ Guinness, whatever you can find, go out and buy some
Guinness?
In Texas? _
Some pinto beans, some chewing tobacco
Sit out on the front porch and have yourself a time
Well, let's set off in this thing and find a six-pack
Alright
You have _ _ _ to turn the key, Nancy
