And with Mo Mohr and Mick Brockett of Nectar, _ gentlemen, what was the impetus of _ _ _ _ creating
the light show with the music?
How did that become?
_ We met in Firth, the camera club in Firth in Germany. _ _
_ _ _ They were there doing a _ light show and we were there playing as a band.
_ _ _ We were there for I think three days, right Mick?
No, it was a whole week.
A whole week?
We were there for a week.
We used to do week gigs.
Germany was weird.
_ When you're running around on the circuit, you do a week in this club, a week in that
club, a month in another club.
Anyway, _ _ to [Eb] cut it short, we _ _ decided it would be great to have a band _ that [Gm] did the [F] music
and words and the light show would then tell the story and [D] visuals and it _ would _ overcome
the German, the French, the Belgian and all the different languages in Europe so that
they would see or they would understand what it was we were doing.
_ _ _ And then, that was in _ 1969, August 1969, _ _ in _ January of _ 1970, _ _ _ _ we'd just formed the band
a month before, a month _ [F] before.
_ _ _ [A]
Mick turned up at the _ [E] _ Pacific, in Hamburg, at the [Bb] Annex. _
_ [A] We immediately said, hey Mick, you've got to come with us.
[N] We've got some gigs and we'll do what we always talked about doing.
_ So, _ that happened. _ _ _ _
We would go to the clubs which we'd already booked into _ and I would say to the club owner,
look, _ for another 200 marks, we can give you a light show.
And they would say, _ nah, we've already got a light show.
And I said, no, you've not got a light show, you've got to have this [A] light show.
_ So, I would say to them, look, [N] Mick will do the light show _ and if you don't like it, you
don't have to pay him.
_ _ And they _ always, _ always paid him because they wanted him to come back.
Right, Mick?
[A] Right.
_ [N] And we were making money with the light show.
So, we had a bunch of gigs in _ 1969, _ _ almost to Christmas. _
And this was in August, so I _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _
_ _ _ _ was doing big festivals as well.
_ And [A] we went home, _ _ _ _ the other [Bbm] guys didn't want to come back.
_ _ My gear was still in Germany.
_ [N] _ _ But I figured, let's see who's at the Annex in the hotel Pacific and guess who answers the phone.
_ This guy here. _ _
_ Yeah, Mick, come on over.
So, I knew what to say.
So, [A] that's how it started. _
