Hey guys, my name is David Leota.
I'm a guitar player for Elevation [G] Worship.
Today
I'll be breaking down the lead electric guitar parts for the song Never Lost.
I'll break down [Ab] each section and then play it in context.
So for this song I have all my strings tuned down a half step.
We're in the key of E flat and as far as effects go I have my first overdrive on
using a slapback [G] delay and a spring [Ab] reverb.
So the first section we'll be talking about is the pre-chorus and
[Ab] we'll be using kind of a minor pentatonic scale shape playing two strings at a time.
Here's what that [F] sounds like.
[Eb] [F]
[Eb] [Ab]
[Bb] [Eb]
So this [E] next section is [Ab] verse two.
It's just kind of this simple picky part on the G and B strings, and here's what that sounds like.
[Eb]
[Cm]
[Ab]
[Eb]
[D]
[Eb] [Cm]
[Ab]
So this next section is [Em] chorus two.
It's just this [Fm] simple lead line [Ab] that's kind of the main hook for the chorus for the first part and for the second part we play this little lead line that kind of [G] follows and responds to the vocal melody.
Here's what that [Bb] sounds like.
[Eb]
[Bb] [Gm]
[Cm]
[Bbm] [Eb]
[Ab] [F]
[Eb]
[Fm] [Eb]
[Ab] [Bb]
[Eb]
[Bb] [Gm]
[Cm]
[Bbm] [Eb]
[Ab]
[Eb]
[Fm] So [Eb] this next [G] section is
[Gb] in the bridge when the [G] bridge gets big.
We [E] start with this simple lead line [Am] kind of [Ab] droning the open E string and sliding up the neck and then after that we transition to a slide guitar [G]
kind of solo [Ab] and here's what that sounds like.
[Eb]
[F] [Eb]
[Fm] [Gm]
[Ab]
[F] [Eb]
[Ab] [Cm]
[Fm] [Eb]
[Eb] This next part is kind of [Am] this fast kind of pentatonic lick that [F] leads into the last chorus.
Here's what that sounds like.
[Cm]
So [Abm] chorus three is the same as chorus two except for for the last part of the song there's a guitar solo that uses a lot of bends a lot of major pentatonic scale.
Here's what that [D] sounds like.
[Gm] [Cm]
[Bbm]
[Eb] [Ab]
[Eb]
[Fm]
[Eb]
[Bb] [Fm]
[F] [Ab]
[Bb] [Fm]
[Eb] [Ab]
[Bb] [Eb]
And that's how you play the lead electric guitar parts for the song Never Lost.
Thanks for watching.
