Let's stop in Chicago for a group that was formed there in 1964 called the New Colony Six.
The New Colony Six [Gbm] featured love song ballads.
Their first label, Centaur, was owned by the fathers of three group members [N] and a neighbor.
Their next label, Mercury, is where they got their big hits like
I Will Always Think About You and Things I'd Like to Say.
After Mercury dropped them, they moved on to Sunlight Records, a small label in Chicago,
and got a couple of chart singles.
We're actually featuring the flip side of one of those singles today
that was re-released in 1974 as an A-side on MCA Records, but did not chart.
It's a beautiful song that has that same sound and texture as
Things I'd Like to Say and I Will Always Think About You.
From 1971 and 74, here's the New Colony Six with Never Be Lonely on Flashback [G] Favorites.
You think because he's gone [F] your life is through
Well listen girl, say I got news for you
[Bm] There's no guy [Dm] that's worth that much
[Em] When you think of [Dm] the world you can touch
[F] All around you [G] each day
Never be lonely [F] no matter what you [G] do
There's someone [C] somewhere [F] waiting [G] for you
You think that morning sun [F] won't shine no more
[G] There's darkness where there never [F] ever was before
But
[Em] you'll see [B] what [Dm] can be done
[Bm] For a girl [Dm] who's lost her love
[F] You'll feel so much better [G] I know
Never be lonely [F] no matter what [C] you do
There's someone somewhere [F] waiting [C] for you
