Start Jamming...
Get laps of time.
Yes!
[D] Start again.
[A] Start [B] again.
When I first started [G#] doing the percussive stuff, it [F#] was very much all [G]
separate.
And all, [E] like, I was, kind of, bass [A#m] drums were down here and everything [C#] was kind of miles away.
And then recently I've started kind of mixing everything in with the actual strumming a bit more.
So you're not [D#] thinking
Because I always see it in two [A] ways.
Either completely it's a drum kit, as in [F] kick's there, kick's there.
[Fm] Or this sort of little embellishment, [G#m] which I think, you know, where [G] do you come from?
I think I'm probably more [Am] drummy than I am percussion-y.
[F#] Okay.
I think.
90% of the time.
Occasionally I'll kind [A#] of break away [C] from that.
And whereabouts from the body?
[N] Can we have a
I've got loads.
Obviously there's great bass drum there.
And especially for, like, four on the floor stuff as [C#m] well.
[C#]
[G#]
[C#] [C#m]
And then [F] there's that one down there.
That one's slightly rounder sometimes.
And also, if you're plugged in, say, using the mic, then they [A] sound more different.
Just because of the proximity [G] to the mic.
I do occasionally use the one on the back and [F#] flip it upside down.
Really?
Right, okay.
Which is really fun.
You do throw [F] yourself into the occasional feedback conundrum.
But if you've got
Yeah, if it's on a strap, you can kind of
I've [G#m] never, ever done that.
And that's a nice sound back there.
Yeah, no, it's really
The other thing is the [E] amount of your body that's touching the guitar.
Yes.
So [F#] if it's there, that's going to be quite tight.
If you suddenly tilt the whole thing so you're only touching a little bit of the side,
then it's massively more open.
And then you can
[N] The tricky bit is you have to tap underneath.
[F#] And it's quite hard to see what you're doing.
But you can do it with bassline.
[F]
[Em]
[F] [G#]
You can [G] really
Yeah, that's [E] lovely.
It's really fun.
I never even thought of that.
[D#] And that sounds wonderful.
Yeah, it's [C] really open.
And then snares.
[D#]
Classic one there.
[F#] Inside one for when [C#m] this hand's busy.
But my favourite [F] one is this lower one there.
It's so fun.
It's really kind of
[Em] It's got a real hip-hop-y vibe.
It's [B] really tight there.
[C#]
[B] It's just really
It [C#m] really goes
How you going, V?
[C] It's beautiful.
Yeah, [C#] it's just really kind of
Yeah, it's got that kind [A#] of
It's almost like [G] those little
Are they piccolos?
[C#m]
Tiny sort of things.
The tiny little hip-hop ones.
It's got kind of that vibe.
[G#m] Fantastic.
It's really kind of [C#m] boingy.
[G#]
[C#m]
[C#]
[C#m]
[G#m] Yeah, with all the body stuff, it's definitely
It's technique over power in terms of kind of
Because there's this sort of ring-ish-ness in there.
Yeah, [G] that's just one finger.
And if you get it just right, it really pings.
And people are like, have you got a metal ring on?
Yeah.
[G#] Yeah, it's just
I'm just trying to think how much of my [E] finger I'm going to need.
[A]
[C#m]
[D]
[A]
Thank you very much.
Thank you.
Well, thank you very much.
[A#]
Yeah, I'll see you soon.
