I've had people asking me how I play Nick Cave's Into My Arms, which I recorded a couple of years ago.
So I just sort of [F] made up my own version, [Em] trying to sort of imitate what Nick's doing on the piano.
[Eb] It's not actually that accurate, but it works [G] for guitar.
[Ab] So I'll play a little bit of it and then I'll try and explain [B] what it is that I'm doing.
[G]
[F] [C]
[G]
[F] I don't believe in an [C] interventionist God.
[G]
[F] I know, darling, that [C] you do.
[G]
[F] If I did, I would kneel down [C] and ask him
[G]
[F] Not to intervene when it came [C] to you
Not to touch a hair [F] on your head
He'll leave you [Dm] as you are
[G] If he felt he had to direct you
[B] He'll direct you into [G] my arms
Into my [D] arms, oh Lord
[Dm] Into my [C] arms, oh Lord
[G] Into [D] my arms, oh Lord
Into [C] my arms
[G] [C]
[F] So that's really the bulk of what you need to know.
If you can [G] play that much, you can do the whole thing.
What I'm doing there, I'm not going to show you the right hand because
I don't know, I kind of just fiddle around with it as I go.
So the left hand, [F]
[G] that's a G.
[C] And then what you've got next is just a C chord, but swapped with a G bass.
Adding that G bass in there so you [G] can go on.
[C] C.
[F] That's just an F bar.
An F major bar.
[C] And then I bring this one down, second finger down a string so I can get that hammer.
[G]
[C] [F]
[C] Back to the C.
[G]
E, [F] C, F.
C.
[G]
[F] F.
From the F, [D] it goes up to the D, it's just a D minor.
[G]
Direct you, G.
Direct you into my arms.
So you go, [Em] E minor, [G] G. E.
[F] [Dm]
[G] E minor, G.
And then you go into the chorus which is, [Dm] you're on bass around that D [G] minor chord.
And I'm just sort of following the melody, see.
[Em]
[Dm] [D] It's like the other, you bring [Am] your finger down so you can get that [Dm] part of the melody [D] there.
[Dm]
[E] [C]
Back to the C.
And then you're just hammering, well not hammering on, you're putting that [A] take off your first finger there, [Cm] put it back on.
[G]
[C] [Dm]
[C]
[G]
[D]
Into [C] my arms.
[G] [C]
[F] [G]
So you're bassed around the C, it's like a little [E] walking thing that goes up back into the verse.
So you're just like, [G] back into the verse.
[C]
[G] [F] [C]
Yeah, it's based around the C so you go.
[G]
[C] [F]
[D] And that's not a very good tutorial but if you want
