I think I got rejected from [Fm] almost every school.

I played key piano, and I sang feel like making love by Roberta Flack well by Eugene McDaniels
But I tried [Gbm] to do the Roberta Flack version when [E] I was in school
I was teaching at the [B] Boys and Girls Club and [Ebm] the yawkey Boys and Girls Club in [Eb] Roxbury
Met a lot [Eb] of really talented young people that some [Db] of that I still stay in touch with _ _

City of school is an alternative transfer [Am] high school and a public high school in New York [C] City within [Dm] city of school

[Dm] Which is the music and art and design Academy and it's a pre-professional training program for students
[Em] We help them get studio [Dm] time
We [Em] developed as young [Am] artists do their branding when someone is a mentor and someone's invited in to work with
Our [Em] students it's a really sacred [F] and special [Abm] thing You ready?

But also that he [Dm] just really connected with the kids and the kids really like him
Nick and our best mentors do this where they see [Am] themselves in the students and even [Em] though that seems cliche

struggling often in school and not
[Em] Feeling like it was the place for him for a lot of reasons and then if it wasn't [Am] for
The opportunities he [D] had to make music and build his confidence and his [A] creativity and he wouldn't be who he is today
