Hey, when we released our first record back in 1982, [E] before that we were playing around
these clubs back in 1980 and 81 in San Francisco in the Bay Area and we used to
play on this street called Polk [N] Street and it was in this funky part of town
and we played this little club called the Palms and I mean it held maybe 80
people right?
Maybe, like packed 80 people.
So it was real small and the stage was like a
postage stamp, you know what I mean?
It was one of those little bitty, you know,
like a ice skating rink stage or something.
But it had a long bar up
the side here where the bartender was and Brad used to run off the stage and
run up and down the bar while he's playing solos and stuff and kick
everybody's drinks over and we always had to buy all their drinks.
We never made any
money there.
[D] We always had to pay back [E] everybody for their [D] drinks, you know?
But
anyway, there was this guy that lived down in the Tenderloin area and he used
to come in and we'd always be watching for him because every time he'd come to
the show we'd always know we were gonna have a good, good, good show, you know what I
mean?
And this guy was dressed, he'd come in in these fine Italian clothes and
these Italian shoes and always had a couple of bibs on each arm.
Had a big ol' hat.
Big ol' hat, man.
Big ol' pimp hat, you know?
Like, huge thing, right?
He's walking along
and everything like that and his name was Eddie and we'd always be looking at
this, we'd be looking at the back of stage and he'd come strutting in because we
always knew that we'd have a good show [G] if Eddie was coming to the show.
So, [N] so
every night before we'd start playing we'd go, hey you think Eddie's coming out
tonight?
You think Eddie's coming out tonight?
So we ended up, I'll tell you
what, we ended up writing a song and [B] ended up being on our first record.
It's
