[A] Hello everybody, we are Night [D] Ranger.
We have a [A] new album coming out called Somewhere in California.
Why do we call it that?
Brad and Kelly and I are all native Californians and we cut a lot of our records [D] here and so
we thought it was only fitting after doing so many records that we call it Somewhere in California.
[G] The first song, [A] our first track that we're leading off the record is called Grown Up in California.
It's [D] basically the story of Kelly's and Brad's and my life.
[G] [A]
[Gb] [G] [A]
[Gb] [G] [A]
[Bm] It [G] [D] sort of tells the whole story and the whole [C] idea is just [G] about growing up in [Fm] California
and I [Gm] think it has a [A] real, real classic [D] Night Ranger feel.
[G] The [A]
[D] [G] [A] most [Bm] important thing for me about making [G] music and I know the rest of the guys [D] feel
the same way is to have something authentic and [Cm] real from [G] your heart.
I [Cm] feel really lucky [G] that [A] after all these years that I'm [D] still able to get up in the [A] morning
and my job is to write [D] a song or come up with a lyric or sing a chorus or play a bass part
[G] or [A] listen to some music.
That's [D] just to me, I [A] feel really [D] blessed.
Every morning I wake up I feel blessed.
[G]
[F] We actually [G] got in a room together and just started jamming.
You have a riff, you have an idea for a lyric, what's your chorus idea?
[Gm] So that was really unique for us.
[G] It's really been fun because musical ideas were really flowing.
We're working on a lot of cool [Fm] harmony stuff, [C] getting back to the 80s, original Night Ranger
sound, the up-tempo [N] Twin Harmony, Don't Tell Me Love [Eb] Me, Rockin' America type [F] stuff.
It's running out really good.
[Eb]
[F] [Gm] [Eb] [Fm]
[Gm] [Eb] [C] Just having a blast working on guitars with [F] Brad and [Cm] we hope to [Fm] give that classic Night
Ranger sound to everybody on this [G] record and [Eb]
[Fm] some Vernon double guitars [G] and some [Eb] high energy
rock songs with great [D] hooks and melodies.
I think one of the things that I really enjoy about it is the [E] spontaneity of every day.
Wherever the song is at and [F] whatever is going [G] on with the music is where it takes [C] us.
[Bb] [F] [G]
[F] [Cm] [N]
[E] One of [D]
[C] [G] [E]
[D] [G] the [C] Night Ranger heavier [G] tracks.
Brad came in with [E] this [D] riff and it just reminded [C] us of [G] a great grinding [Em] rock and roll track.
Almost like [D] Priest or something like [G] that.
Real 80s, yeah.
Yeah, you know, we really [D] love that and [A] we love the way it felt.
[C] [G] Being [B]
[E] [G] [A] [Bb] [B]
[C] our [E] ninth studio [G] album, can you believe it?
[E] We're pretty excited about [G] showing the [A] world [B] our new Somewhere in [C] California album.
[D] It's pretty exciting, you [D] know, just to have a new record out [A] after so many years and to
have Joel and Eric in the band now.
It's such a great addition for both these guys and this record is definitely the point
where we just did what we wanted to do, man.
A lot of tempo, driving [B] stuff, a lot of big harmony guitar stuff like the original Night Ranger stuff.
Great vocals, great choruses from these guys like the original Night Ranger stuff.
We're trying to get back to the old, which is now the new.
[Bm] It's full circle, man.
It's really Night Ranger.
I think [E] the fans are going to love it.
We really [D] hope so because it's [C] from our heart to yours.
