[Gm] I [Dm]
didn't really [F] work on the voice, it's more [C] a natural progression of thinking what kind
of feel the [Dm] song needs.
I [D] tried to practice singing [C] the songs.
At first I only had the old recordings [D] and that's a terrible way to study music because
you immediately [G] get the interpretation [D] of a different vocalist.
The real [Eb] getting to know the songs feel came when we actually were rehearsing together.
The total [E] sound and difference of how we are today [Bb] came to be because it's not [F] just how
I sing it, it's how are we going to play it.
We have now Troy in the [Ab] band who comes with different kinds [N] of instruments.
We very early on in this process decided that we want to do as many live vocals as possible.
Not so many recorded backings but a lot of live so that [Am] means that it's Marco, Troy and
me singing a lot more live in harmony than we did [D] before.
One of

[Am] [Bb] the [C]
[D] [Gm] [F]
[Eb]
[Db] [Eb]
[Fm] biggest [N]
challenges to sing is it's such a song [Eb] to get it right [Ab] but I naturally
felt that the [C] ending, [Eb] yeah I always [Ab] sang it differently and it just kind of grew into
the way it became, [Db] which became such a signature of me [F] on that song that it became very much
appreciated by fans.
Playing the song always because it became so special and because it comes [A] out in a way
that you can't predict [G] these things, you can't make those [Fm] things, they just kind of [Gb] happen
and so this happened and in that sense it of course made [G] the song extra special to me.

[G] [E] The way it works with Nightwish has been and will always be is that Tuomas writes the music.
Also with Endless Forms Most [F] Beautiful [E] I did not feel the need to say yeah I'm a songwriter
too so I should write songs.
The reason why Nightwish sounds the way it [Am] does is because he writes the music but another
reason why it sounds the way it does is because other [E] people that are musical and are songwriters
too come in and [Ab] say okay this is the song and [Gb] we are going to play it, I'm going to sing it.
So everybody has their sound and their personality and signature into these songs and so did
I on Endless Forms Most Beautiful and that's how I see the upcoming album as well.
If I would feel that I just wrote a song that would be perfect for Nightwish I would surely
play it to him but [F] he writes on a level that yeah you know I don't really feel like I have
much to add but if I would feel that [Db] way I would surely be able to play it to him and
he would listen to it [Gb] but he is the one making Nightwish sound like this [Dm] so I'm very good [E] with that.

[G] I met Jørn back in 2007 [Gb] and also all the music was written in 2008 with of course the
thought of releasing it around that time but we never [Ab] did because my band After Forever
stopped so we [Gb] had 2008 as a year off of that band and so I had a lot of time left and wanted
to experiment in different styles of what was done metal.
It would be great if I could do something else that became rock.
When I heard Jørn Viggo play [N] despite him being very froggy obviously [E] he also really
played fantastic cool rock stuff so we tried to write stuff together that really [Abm] worked
and in 2008 [C] we kept writing [Fm] music until we got to [Gb] the point of almost having a [N] deal for
an album and ready to start recording.
We even recorded the drums for all the songs but when After Forever then decided to not
continue I did not want the side project in rock to become my next new [Gb] thing and I first
wanted to get back into the saddle of whatever was to come after and then I never had time
to finish it up so when there was a year off announced in 2017 with Nightwish I contacted
Jørn Viggo again like I don't know how your schedule is but I would still like to see
if we could release this album and so we gathered and we listened through everything
we wrote and saw if we maybe wanted to change anything needed to rewrite or write in addition
[Em] to what we had and recorded the music and that's what we did.
So [E] there it was ten years after Northward.
