Start Jamming...
Paul continues, Adam Curry with you on the bus, which has kind of been revamped for a special guest that we have with us this evening.
We have Michael and Jim from Nitro.
Welcome to the revamped bus, guys.
What's going on, man?
How are you hanging out?
Good to see you.
Nice of you guys to drop by at this god awful hour.
Hey, man.
It's wild.
Well, I'm here to talk about the album OFR, which since we're on national television, we refer to it as Out F'ing Rages.
Right.
Come on, say [F] it, dude.
Knock it off, man.
Come on, dude.
Don't egg me on.
Before you guys formed Nitro, you had already worked together, right?
Yeah.
Yeah.
Did a little solo album and met at a beach party.
I know it sounds crazy.
A beach party?
True.
Yeah, I know.
Yeah, we met in Venice Beach.
Actually, a barbecue.
But, you know, took it from there.
Saw the [Bb] video of him doing this.
[Eb] I said, whoa, dude.
Got him to play [N] and started writing tunes, man.
It was awesome. Really?
Now, so you got together and I guess you had an idea of what you wanted Nitro to be.
I mean, it seems, especially from the album title, that it would be very outrageous to all extremes.
That's it, man.
Was that the first plan from the start?
Yeah.
I mean, well, you know how he plays guitar and I do the same thing with my voice.
The higher the better.
And it's not something we said, let's try and be this way.
It's just kind of the way we were.
Put it this way.
When we only did one show before we got signed and we walked on stage.
It was at Cazares on the Strip.
Jim walks on stage, shatters glass.
It was all over.
Then we started the set and I ended up playing my double neck guitar upside down behind my back.
So that about sums it up.
And I think we should talk about both of those talents before you guys leave tonight.
Another question.
When people hear the album, will they have the same idea, you know, [A] to all extremes, the fast guitar playing, [F] the glass shattering voice?
Every cut's really intense.
Every cut.
[Bb] Okay, great.
Hang out for a little bit longer.
Of course, we'll use [D] this stuff here.
We got [Bb] Junkyard with Hollywood.
Michael here from Nitro and you look kind of suited up and ready to show us something.
Where's the quadruple neck guitar?
Well, probably in somebody's living room.
It got stolen when we were on the road.
You're kidding.
No, in El Paso.
Somebody wanted it bad enough to break into our truck, crawl through the cargo bay and grab it.
Really?
Yeah.
Well, thank God there is a picture of it on the album.
So people can go and buy the album and definitely get a look at it.
It's on one video, so that's good.
Now, you design your own guitars, right?
Yeah, yeah.
I invented the
I was the first person ever to play two guitars at the same time, left-handed and right-handed.
And that was just
I used to play it upside down.
So I figured why flip it upside down when I can just have one with four necks made?
And tell me about this particular model.
This is my design and Jim helped me design it.
This is the rocket.
It's 29 frets and aircraft aluminum.
So
Built for speed.
Why don't you show us your stuff?
Okay.
As we say, shred it, dude.
[N]
[Gb]
[G] [Db] [Em]
[Bbm] Anytime, anywhere, anyplace, man.
Michael make you look like a [Bb] disgrace.
So I'll shred anybody the hell I'm back, huh?
[Gm] Here's Nitro, great trade.
Michael from Nitro is still with us.
And of course, [N] Michael, we saw just a small demonstration of what you can do on the axe.
And Jim, I hear you can break glass with your voice.
No problem, man.
Now, I've seen Ella Fitzgerald do this in the Memorex commercial, but I mean
How does it work?
It's
If you ever go like this on a glass
You gotta hit that exact note.
But you go to that frequency?
Yeah.
When you put it up to a frequency counter, [F] if it's like 995.2, you know, at 95 [Eb].23
It won't break, man.
[F] It's gotta be perfect.
And so, as Michael mentioned earlier, at the beginning of the show, you go out there and you can shatter the glass and everything starts?
Yeah, he also shattered the glass system, too.
Yeah, I blew the whole system up.
I blow [Ab] monitors up and PAs all the time.
You're the [Eb] loudest singer I've ever heard in my life.
But this can be a very expensive hobby then, when it gets down to it.
Yeah, we got EV.
[N] Give us more, give us more.
Like a standard contract for everything we do.
That's incredible.
[F] So, right now you're doing a [G] tour?
Yeah, we've been playing all over the country.
[F] Everywhere.
It's been the hell tour, dude.
Yeah.
Summer, 110 degrees, everywhere, man.
Now, you were coughing a little bit.
How's the voice [G] been holding up?
Haven't missed a note.
Yeah, not one note.
Not one.
So, it's a [N] warning.
Don't wear
Just wear your contacts.
It's probably the safest when you go to the next gig.
I wanna thank you guys for dropping by.
No problem.
It's been great being here, man.
Thanks for bringing in the stocks.
Okay, cool.
And right now, here's a band that just finished up a tour of Japan with hordes of fans following the band wherever they went.
Bret Michaels, in fact, said,
It was our hard day's night.
This goes out to all you Headbangers Ball viewers in Japan.
I wish I could speak some Japanese for you.
This is probably better.
