[B] [A] [B] You know, you know, [Gbm] [B] you [Gb]
[B] know, you [Gbm] know, [B]
[B] you know, you [D] got the EP out right now.
[Gb] Yes, sir.
I heard somebody EP.
This is correct me if I'm wrong.
Is this the first kind of compilation?
It seems like you've been releasing mostly just single by single along the way, huh?
Yes, it's the first like body of work that I've gotten to release, which is super exciting
because it's kind of always the goal as an artist [F] is to kind of create something cohesive
and I just wanted to create something I could release as a whole and releasing singles is
cool but it's nice to be able to kind of put your stamp on something a little bigger.
So having the EP has been really exciting and the reaction has been really awesome.
And you're setting your sights on like a full length album here before too long?
Oh yeah, that's the goal.
I mean, it's been the dream is releasing a full length and I hope to do that as soon as possible.
I mean, we have the songs and we're ready to go.
So yeah.
And you said you've been working in Nashville more or less, sir.
Where would you be producing one of these?
I've been doing [A] I've been kind of splitting time between Nashville and LA in terms of the production.
[Bb] I've got a couple of great guys in each city, which has been awesome.
And I've been doing a lot of writing at home in Vermont, which is cool.
So I write Nashville and LA and back home and you never really know when you're getting something good.
So all over the place.
And you've been touring with LP on this one.
We were talking about LP.
You said she's [B] an amazing artist, a lot of fun to watch live.
Do you learn anything from who you're touring with as far as writing goes?
I mean, their processes, does that help you out at all?
Yeah, absolutely.
I mean, especially with LP, who's written songs for a lot of really big artists, you
have to kind of take her two cents.
And I'm always trying to pick her brain when I get when I get a rare chance to.
She's got a lot of cool insight on songwriting and she's been through a lot in her career
in the music industry, songwriting and artist wise.
So it's always an interesting perspective.
And she has a lot of good advice and a lot of really cool [A] things to say about it.
So I've been learning a lot from [Eb] her.
As far as writing, too, listening to Youngblood, it seems like a really autobiographical tune.
Did that really come from the heart kind of stuff you were dealing with when you wrote that song?
Absolutely.
Yeah.
I mean, I think I try to be as honest with every [Bb] song I write.
But Youngblood especially was a song I wrote at a time where I felt kind of lost and I
didn't feel like I had a direction and I wanted to write a song that would kind [N] of work as
advice for myself later on.
And I wrote it in a place of kind of stress and sadness.
So writing that song and seeing her react is really cool.
And having something autobiographical resonate with other people's lives, too, is really exciting.
That's got to be amazing to put all your feelings out there.
And then all of a sudden it's got 13 million streams on Spotify.
You know, that's amazing.
Yeah, no, it's totally crazy.
It's cool because it kind of validates your feelings a little bit.
And I'm sure for a lot of other people who have connected with the song, it makes them
feel like they're not alone with what they're going through, too.
So that's kind of the goal.
Well, it's a great tune.
And we're going to cut to that one.
Yes, sir.
Let's do it.

Howdy, howdy, I'm sorry
That [Am] you grew [Gm] up so soon
Cold year and no high school parties
I've [Eb] been drinking [Bb] alone
Oh, I've [Eb] been drinking alone
So don't fear, don't fear the warnings
The bitter hurt [Gm] and the moan
Four years of driving across the country
Four empty [Eb] seats at their shows
And they've been drinking alone
[Bb] So keep your time, [Eb] keep your mind, keep [Bb] humble
Start your [Gm] life at the middle of the jungle
You, [Bb]

[Bb] Rub your eyes, be surprised, [Eb] keep hungry
[Bb] Stay [Gm] alive, try to lose all of your money
You, [Bb] [Eb] young blood
